ok, it looks like Monday...Roos, here's what I propose...
we start in Socastee at Hot Dog Queen.
The Hot Dog Queen
8724-D Hwy 707
Myrtle Beach SC 29588
http://hotdogqueen.us/ from a newspaper review
" All-beef frankfurters, pork wieners and Sabrett wieners are all available at this eatery that aims to take hotdogs to greater heights. I ate what I would call an ordinary or traditional hotdog with chili, onions, mustard and ketchup. The chili was good, but the wiener was just OK. It lacked bite. Pun intended. Anyway, it didn't take away from my eating experience because overall the hotdog was tasty."
this is a fairly new joint, but one of the few that actually is built around hot dogs.
Plus, the girl seems to be trying some wierd offerings similar to Jack's Cosmic
Dog outside of Charleston, which is a favorite of Alton Brown.
next I'd like to head to
Peaches Corner
900 N Ocean Blvd
Myrtle Beach
(843) 448-7424
which is the quintessential old school Myrtle Beach joint..by the beach,
decades of memories....most folks say they have the best hot dog in town.
However, they aren't answering their phone, so they may be closed in January..
plenty of joints here do.
If so, we'll head to Burkeys Grill
3901 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
(843) 626-2888
"Burky's Grill is owned and operated by Wayne Burkart former owner of G.D. Ritzy's. You will experience the same 1950's Soda Fountain atmosphere, and the same menu that you came to know and love at Ritzy's, only the name has changed! We offer fresh burgers, Sabrett's 100% beef hot dogs..."
and finally, Sams Corner...there are two locations...one in Garden City across
from the beach, and one in Myrtle Beach that we will visit. Both I believe are
still open 24 hours, and claim the title of best hot dogs in Myrtle Beach. Lots
of people tell me they used to be, but now they claim the service sucks and are
too expensive...not trying to influence Roos here, but we'll be the judge of that!
