Ume Boshi-Sources for the fruit?

I am told I am a very strange round eye for loving this fruit bur I wish to make my own ume boshi (roughly pickled plums). They are not truely plums but more like an apricot. Anyone know of source for the trees (best choice) or fruit in the states? Very good for you but extremely difficult to find the good ones here (small ones are everywhere but expensive and not so good).

I seen on TV this past year about a woman who runs a large scale Fruit and produce import operation and is largely responsible for bringing exotic fruits and vegtables to us throught the U.S. sorry can't remember the name of Co. I belive it was in So. Cal though. Maybe some of our other members of the community knows of this operation. Chow Jim

The woman who founded this company is responsible for introducing many Americans to fruits and vegetables that they had never seen previously, and her products are now available throughout the U.S. However, if the OP is seeking the trees so that he can grow his own exotic plums, Frieda's will not be of help, as that company only distributes fresh fruits and vegetables. On the other hand, if he just wants the dried product, any Asian market has an ample supply.

I have settled on raising my own due to the low quality of the finished product and the basic unavailability of the fruit. The fruit is picked in June when greena as the devil. The stuff in the oriental stores are tiny or even just the paste. The ones I used to bring back from Japan were the size of ping pong balls not as salty as the ones here. Thanks for the replys but Rain Tree Nursery seems the ticket
