Under the weather and watching the Food Network Fri, 03/23/07 2:16 PM (permalink)
I was up all night with a fever and headache so slept in today when I finally wore out. Still have the headache but am sitting up and ambulatory with the laptop computer watching the Food Network and surfing the web. The last time I was sick like this was two years ago and I was watching the Food Network and had my pork tenderloin sandwich epiphany when I saw an episode of Food Finds, Racing Around Indiana that featured making a pork tenderloin sandwich in my hometown of Speedway. No repeat today. Emeril is on as I type, but Paula Deen made some really mouth watering chocolate chip cookies.

At least it is better than watching the news channels with Anna Nicole Smith news ad nauseum. But I might be missing a live car chase in LA on the Fox Network.

Gotta love daytime TV.

I just hope it is a 24 hour thing because this weekend is shaping up to be a beaut. It is not affecting my digestive system so I found enough energy this afternoon to prepare a meal with the help of ibuprophen, the old man's savior pill.

Get well soon, Davydd. Watching too much of the Food Network could be harmful to your health.

I got 10 hours of undisturbed sleep last night and seem to have pulled out of it.

The Food Network is full of people standing around in kitchens making dinners. Get out people! Go to a restaurant. Sandra Lee's style is to make pizza with pre-package pizza crust mix. Some of them look like they actually eat their food. I don't know how Gaida can stay the way she looks.

I think the next time I am going to watch the stock tickers on the Bloomberg channel.

Feel better soon. Spring has sprung here & it's too pretty to be stuck inside. Get out & enjoy the pine pollen. It's everywhere. All cars are now a nice shade of greenish/yellow. Dogwoods, wild honeysuckle, azaleas - all blooming early this year.

When I'm stuck at home a few days with only the TV as entertainment, it wipes out any ideas I have of retirement. I hate daytime TV & I can only watch so many chic flicks on Lifetime. So many channels & so little to see...

              Speedy recovery wishes.

I had the double-whammy. Not only was I a bit under the weather but I was home bacheloring it this weekend. You kind of get lost. I did manage to make the meatloaf. I got outdoors yesterday. I was thinking about a pork tenderloin pursuit I had in mind but decided it was no fun going to a restaurant alone. My last two pursuits were with groups of 12 and 7. This morning the deer were in the yard urging me on to feed them some corn. They know me. They are getting quite tame with me. I probably could pet them but don't plan to. The littlest one is the bravest of all. He will come right up to my window and stick his nose on it pleading with me. You can see it in his eyes.

Thanks for sharing the photo!! It was 85 here today. I'm jealous of your snowy backyard.

The snow is gone. That was a couple of weeks ago but this one walked right up to me today when I threw the corn out and still appears at our window on a regular basis. It's in the 60s here today in Minnesota.

My brother lives in Edina and he indicated that it was a beautiful day in Minneapolis. It was the same in Knoxville, TN.

                      I welcome spring.

                        Paul,

They had storms with a tornado threat come through the eastern metro area and Wisconsin but it did not affect Edina and the west side. Tornado threats this early in the season is unusual here.

I'm sick as a dog myself today. I hate people that come in to work with the plague, then spread it around for all to share. Anyway - was watching the food network too. And what I noticed was that it is turning into a "the roadfood" channel - has anyone else noticed that?? Today I saw an ad for some blonde guy with spiked hair doing a series of "Diners and Dives" or something to that effect. Didn't someone not too long ago post a thread asking for suggestions on the same thing? And I even think he said he was a tv producer. And all the Alton Brown (don't get me wrong, I like him), Dean Brothers, Giada's "weekend getaways" etc etc. Isn't it kind of like a blatant rip off of Roadfood and the Sterns?? Not meaning to stir up trouble - it just kind of ticks me off - it seems pretty obvious that it all stemmed from Jane and Michael and that they should be the ones in the spotlight...just my two cents...Sue

The new show is called Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and it is supposed to start April 23. I saw the ad for it too.

Here's that thread about Dives. http://roadfood.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14697

I gave the guy one item, and would have given more if he ever bothered to acknowledge the suggestions. He never again posted. Will be very interested to see the credits for this new show.

I doubt there is a connection. The 1 post guy lives in a small town just north of me in Minnesota according to his bio. I would be surprised. He was obviously fishin' and trollin' without much spirit and savvy.

I'm sure members here will be watching that series with interest.
