Upstate NY Coney Sauce

A while back, someone posted info about a Coney sauce made and sold in upstate New York. It was from a place that had the word "Grocery" in the title. Can someone tell me the name of the place and possibly include a link to their Web site? Thanks.

It may also have been referred to as "Michigan" sauce. Also, I think the original poster said that he operated a hot dog stand in Florida and that he ordered this particular sauce "by the gallon."

Thanks, Scorereader, but no, it was something else. Definitely a meat sauce for topping Coney Island-style hot dogs and it was called "Michigan" or at least I seem to remember "Michigan" in the name, or may just have claimed to be the "authentic" Michigan sauce, which would make it either a Detroit or (probably) Flint-style coney sauce. I seem to recall that it was a kind of general store attached to a gas station or just a grocery store. The Web page had a photo of the sauce in 1 qy. mason-type jars and you could order a case of several. I'm not sure, but there may have been a gallon-size, too.

I found it! Typed "Michigan Sauce" into Google. (I know: Why didn't I think of that in the first place?) This is the stuff I was talking about: http://michigansauce.com

There are a number of threads on Roadfood that refer to hot dog sauces from MI and the Detriot area. Use the search function on this web site to find them. There's a good one on the "recipes and cooking techniques forum" I made a greek sauce this past weekend fron that thread.

yeah, that's the one I was thinking of Mark. We didn't eat that either. Just mustard and maybe relish on a Hofmann coney. The Michigan Brand sauce is made way way up in Champlain, NY -which is not really "upstate" as typically, the towns around and to the North of the Adirondaks is referred to the "North Country." Which is probably where I got confused.

Hot Dog Charlies, Gus's and the Famous Lunch in the Tri City area all serve similar coney island hot dogs. Walt

I checked the websites for both types of chili sauce and they look great. Could anyone please tell me what they taste like (spicy, sweet, thin, thick?). Thanks
