Alright, lets get it going. Where is the best q to be found in The Commonwealth? I've been to nearly every county and city and i have not found anything than can top Buz&Ned's on The Boulevard in Richmond.

Is Steak and Pig (maybe Pig and Steak) still in business in Madison? I had some outstanding ribs there once. Top

[/quote IMHO, Pierce's Pitt (note the double 't') has some of the best que in Virginia. When oldest daughter was in school at W-burg, QFan and the Mrs were regulars there. They use only fresh pork shoulders cooked over hickory. For their sandwiches they hand chop the pork and mix it w/ their OUTSTANDING sauce which is very tangy. I always bring home 3 or 4 extra bottles when we stop there; can't seem to get enough of it. In fact I'm just finishing up my stash from last summer's visit and you can order their stuff (sauce and que) over the net. Pierce's is right on I-64 so don't miss it if you're in the Tidewater area. QFan Bonita Springs, FL

Pigs R Us is pretty good. They compete at various bbq cookoffs (including the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival) as "Checkered Pig" and do pretty well. Check their website at http://www.checkeredpig.com/ I used to eat at their restaurant occasionally, before I moved to NC. I've decided the best bbq in the commonwealth is south of the NC border.

Pierce's is good, but if you are in that general vicinity it is worth popping up to Richmond to hit Buz and Ned's. They are 1/2 mile off I-95, not far from The Diamond where the R. Braves play (AAA affiliate). I have been to Madision Pig and Steak, but just got a q platter. No ribs. Great spot right off 29, though. Ideal if folks are going back and forth from C-Ville to D.C./Northern VA.

King's down in Petersburg and Cowling's off of 460 between Waverly and Wakefield. Two of the best barbecue restaurants I've ever been to.

Earlier in the spring, I found a pretty good shack in Fredericksburg, but I can't recall the name right now. Definately worth a stop-in, it's about a mile or so off I95. Another one I found was in Lynchburg, called the Silver Pig. Locals said it was real good. I can't say anything about it 'cause it was closed. (on a Sat. Eve?)

The last time I was at the Silver Pig in Lynchburg, they were cooking on an electric cooker in a shed behind the restaurant. That's the last time I was there... they may have gone back to burning wood since then, I don't know.

Both King's locations have good bbq, but the best that I've had was in South Hill, Va. at a small restaurant called S&S Barbeque on US Route 1 South. The Que is very moist and not overpowered by sauce. South Hill is located on Interstate 85.
