Valero Gas Station Chicken

Today while driving through downtown KC I noticed a sign at a Valero station for Chester Fried Chicken. Is anyone familiar with Chester Fried Chicken? Is it any good?

We have ONE Chester Fried Chicken gas station here. A sweet little lady named Mary has fried the chicken there for years, even when the station was sold to...well sold, she remained. It's some of the best chicken I've ever had, Gainesville doesn't really have any good fried chicken, Popeye's and Church's, one each and a whole lot of Publix's. I believe it's just deep fried, I could be wrong. For around $3.50 I get two pieces(my choice)3 potato wedges and a roll. We have Kangaroo gas stations opening up here on just about every corner. I noticed one the other day that will have a "Ms. B's" fried chicken and I'm looking forward to trying it.

I have traveled every state in the USA extensively and in the midwest, I have stopped at many locations featuring Chester Fried Chicken. If you get it while it is hot, I have found it very good. Seems like they are at a lot of gas stations where I fill up. Very convenient for me.

Gas station chicken...this inspires me to review a station in Hartford that I frequent for their chicken and wedges. On second thought, I can't think of a more appropriate "roadfood" establishment, except maybe a truck stop!

We have Chester at our local grocery store, Tark's. It is a pressure/broaster type thing, I believe.

Well I guess it's better than gas station sushi.

I've been there and done that:

Sushi Gas BP Station 6121 Poplar Ave. (901) 681-0111 You come for the gas, you stay for the sushi. Yes, behind that counter lurks fresh homemade sushi as delicious as anything you’ll buy anywhere in town and for a reasonable price. While you’re getting your share of British Petroleum, grab a few boxes of Spicy Tuna rolls, a sushi assortment, or ask for what you want. Made and served fresh every day of the week, you can’t go wrong if you’re on the move.
