Vegan Hot Dog

I am looking for a vegan (no meat/chicken/turkey) hot dog that can be cooked on a roller grill. It must be precooked and hold taste/color/size/texture well throughout the afternoon. I am on a college campus and would like to offer this tto the vegan students. The quantity will be small, so I will probably have to buy the product at a local health food store and stock it in the freezer. Any recommendations as to brands and ingredients would be appreciated.

Ok Kids... I'm no health nut (and my gut proves it).. But you can get some good eats from this local place: http://www.harvesthealthfoods.com/ Not sure if it has what your looking for, but probably worth the view...

frankly (no pun intended), I've never tasted a vegan dog I've ever liked... and I've tried em all.. you should ask your target audience what brands they prefer.. a little informal survey perhaps? btw, CCJPO, aren't you a little testy? it was just a joke.. most vegans I've met wouldn't outlive a gerbil, they look (because they are) pretty unhealthy...

If you have the roller grill why not just go buy a pack of some different brands and test them? Taste, holding time, etc. Maybe hold a "tasting party"? I probably don't have to tell you this but not all veggie dogs are vegan so you should check labels too.

I don't know what brand they use, but Crif's Dogs on St. Mark's in NY has awesome veggie dogs. Give 'em a call.

are you asking about "vegan" or vegetarian? there is a difference i am offering a veggie dog, and after eating way toooo many vegie dogs, i found a decent dog MORNING STAR FARMS. one thing i found with "veggie" dogs, is that they DO NOT HOLD UP WELL, so keeping them hot is not easy, and not recommended. i cook/heat to order and i state on my menue, that there is a 5 min wait for the cooking.

There is a brand of Vegan Hot Dog out of Toronto Canada that is making its way into the States. I've heard great reviews about them. They are called SOL. The site is at the link below. http://www.solcuisine.com/
