Venting your water tanks

I have been Google-ing RV and concession trailer plumbing setups but all I get is partial pictures and vague diagrams. I think I have my setup figured out except for venting the fresh water and waste water tank. I know some RVs have the waste water tank vented with a pipe going up to the roof. Is there a specific way that I am supposed to vent my tanks?

You can vent thru the roof with a wet vent (which is what your HD will probably want. A Cheader vent (air admittance valve) plumbed into one of the waste drains or on it's own dedicated pipe (you can buy the at Home Depot or Lowes... look in the plumbing section around the auto Dishwasher connections as they are used in conjunction with DW in older homes). Search for studor (brand name) at Lowes. Can't remember who Home Depot is using. There is a diagram that shows you how an RV tank is set up (it's a simple diagram and I don't know of a food cart version). http://www.marxrv.com/plumbing/plumb.htm We use an old fresh water holding RV tank. It has several places to drill out and place a connector. Hook a thin hose up to allow the air to vent out above the cart, when the water enters the tank. You do not need a 3" vent pipe unless you are really putting a lot of water down the drains at one time... like a auto dish washer or clothes washing machine. Check with your HD about that though. They may have specifics on the venting and drains.

Thanks, I actually found that diagram during my search and it was helpful but I was looking for actual pictures of a full setup but I think I have it all figured out. I purchased an RV tank vent cap ("Ventline V2049-01 White Plastic Plumbing Vent for 1-1/2" Pipes") from Amazon and it accepts a 1-1.5" PVC pipe. This is for for my waste tank and I think I am good there. I also purchased a "Gravity Water Fill with City Water Inlet" unit which has a lockable door and it has a built in vent tube that I can connect to my fresh water tank. So I am good to go now.

Buck Your referring to the ""Ventline V2049-01 White Plastic Plumbing Vent for 1-1/2 pipes"? If so, what do you suggest to vent the waste tank?
