Vienna Beef Wed, 03/19/08 4:58 AM (permalink)
I just started a selling hot dogs and was looking towards Vienna Beef for there quality and there product name recognition. Hell I figured that with Vienna Beef you can't go wrong can you?
Read on.......

First it was buy 5 cases of dog meat and we'll give you a umbrella and stickers for your cart. I did that and then it was Nope, you need to buy 7 cases. No problem I bought 7 cases and then I was to told that I would recieve a 12"x 12" sticker in the mail. So now I am getting pissed off. I was then told that I have to be 100% Vienna in order to get there full endorsments which I thought I was till he mentioned after inspecting my cart and invoices that I do not use there celery salt. So I walked in the store and plunked down $3.00 for salt and was told that I now have to show loyality to the product for a period of time before I get the umbrella and large sticker for my cart. I told them where they can stick there umbrella. Today I got a call and was told that I can pick up my umbrella but no sticker. I used the umbrella today and my sales doubled as I thought they would. The new customers confirmed that it was the umbrella sporting the Vienna Beef name that drew them to my cart. I love the product, I hate the support I have recieved so far. I am very confused as to there logic behind this. The way I see it the more sales I make the more product I buy and the more money we all make. I contacted the corporate offices to ask for the name and the mailing address to there CEO and was refused his/her name. I googled it and came up blank. Has anyone else run into this situation with Vienna Beef? Would anyone happen to know the name and address of there CEO? I would really love to bring to his attention the BS and lies of the sales rep I have so far gone through in order to put money in his pocket.

Just call the headquarters in Chicago and ask to speak to the President or CEO...you can get the number via the internet or operator info....

As a hot dog consumer, I can perhaps see why they might be careful about distributing stickers and umbrellas. Around here, I have encountered many a cart with a "Sabrett" or "Hebrew national" sticker or umbrella that was obviously selling selling a generic, cheap grey-tan frankfurter. It annoys the hell out of me, and no doubt the distributers too.

Hahahahhha. You guys must not be from Chicago. Talk to the president? Didn't you catch how they answer the phone at Vienna? "Mildred." No "Good morning, Vienna Sausage World Headquarters. This is Mildred. How may I direct your call?" They are very informal. You have to learn to roll with the flow when dealing with Vienna. Can't your distributor step in for you and get your sticker for you? He probably carries more weight than any of us. I wouldn't search out the president and take the chance of pisssing him off. Your sales doubled with one of their umbrellas? I'd be happy with that and just be a little patient with the stickers. They've been around forever and just have their little quirks.

I noticed that It's a real laid back mid-west thing going on over there. I am a New Yorker and I want it 5 minutes ago. After all is said and done though looks like it's there ball and there bat and I am going have to bite it and wait.

This thread is done as far as I'm concerned. Thank you everyone for you input.
