While doing some research for a weekend diversion trip (we are going the Warwick Winery – I need a drink – and stopping at Bobolink Dairy Farm on the way for some cheese and bread) I was browsing the Bobolink website, I noticed that, although temporarily out of stock, they sell a “vinegar mother”. I never thought of making your own vinegar before. This really intrigues me and looks like foodie fun! I’d love to try it. A brief search on the web told me it can be done with fruit juices? I would’ve only associated it with wine. Has anyone out there ever made your own? If so, how and how were the results? Sue

It is probably better if you buy a good quality vinegar. Please read the attachment. It is not a short process: http://italianfood.about.com/library/weekly/aa051003.htm Paul E. Smith Knoxvillle, TN
