New Jersey shows 17 places to eat. Why do only 16 show up when you ask to see all of NJ.

The "Roadfood State Directory" on the Restaurant Search page lists 17 restaurants in NJ. Clicking on the link only shows 16. Presumably, one was deleted and the directory wasn't updated, or some such. Dan B, trying to be helpful

Don't feel bad.....shows that there are a whopping THREE reviewed in Alaska, but in reality there are only TWO! And we don't even have ketchup or hot dogs........just reindeer sausage!

OKAY! I understand now. It's gotta be the CATSUP on a hot dog. That'll do it every time.

Why...could it be because you don't identify where you are from?

If 1L truly is a 1L (first year law student) by this time of year he's now in a psychological state where he questions everything and can't buy a hot dog without counsel. He also probably knows he's never going to rank high enough to summer at a good firm if he spends time hanging out on websites like RoadFood. Whatever you are 1L, welcome.

That's cool ... VERY cool. We need a law student that will address the issue of putting catsup on a good hot dog . And when he/she becomes a "full fledged" lawyer, we need some legislation to outlaw such horrendous criminal activity. Why, shoot, think about the possibilities: Our 1L could possibly go on to become a full-fledged politician ... move to Washington, DC ... become President ... and send anyone, EVERYONE, who puts catsup on a good hotdog to Abu Gahrib (did I spell that correctly?). Alright, OKAY, I'm outta here .

1L must mean one lob (as in hand grenade) just to set you all off on ketchup, catsup or whatever.

Right now, in Myrtle Beach, food tax is 7.5%...... Come June for a cuple months , I was just informed by my boss that it is going to 9.5 % for taxes. (and that is just restaurant taxes, not food in the grocery store tax)- I havent check it out out, but beware, all visitors to Horry County, which is Myrtle Beach...... you eat out in a restaurant, and tax is 9.5%? WHAT? That means when I go out to eat also, I am paying the same tax. I dunno, ....... Like I said, I have not research this, but I am assuming my boss knows what he is talking about. Restaurant tax will be 9.5%. WHAT?

Eat in downtown Minneapolis and you pay 10% tax in a restaurant.

roosy, i am confused. i took this insert, directly off the tax site..... Sales and Use Tax South Carolina's sales and use tax rate is 5 percent. Neither Horry County nor Georgetown County has a local option sales and use tax. Prescriptions, dental prosthetics and hearing aids are exempt from the sales tax. Those over the age of 85 are exempt from 1 percent of the sales tax. A maximum sales tax of $300 is imposed on the purchase of motor vehicles, including recreational vehicles, boats, motorcycles and airplanes. Each gallon of gasoline is taxed at 16 cents. This tax is included in the price per gallon at the gasoline pump. there is no mention on the site, of a visitor's tax. i would not be happy, paying more than 5 percent!

Hotel occupancy and restaurant taxes, which are usually set at the county or city level, are not usually considered Sales and Use tax and don't show up as such in a search. In Horry County I did find something called the Hospitality Fee that is listed as 2.5%, but can vary from 1.5 - 3% depending on the location of your business in the county. The 2.5% fee seems to be the standard which in addition to the state 5% sales tax would add up to 7.5% mentioned. I have found any information on an increase in the fee. The fee applies to food prep, transient accomodations, admissions to amusements and car rentals. See http://www.horrycounty.org/depts/finance/hosp_fee.asp
