WSB News Is Waffle House Historic? By Jon Lewis @ April 9, 2009 7:57 AM (WSB Radio) It's an icon in metro Atlanta. Now Waffle House might become a historical landmark. An application is before the DeKalb Historical Preservation Committee to make Waffle House #1, on East College Avenue, a historic property. There's a public hearing on the matter at the Maloof Center next week. That particular Waffle House no longer serves it up scattered, smotherer and cover. It's been turned into a museum. LINK

I hadn't thought about it at the time, but the last Waffle House I was in ( someplace in S.C. ) was sort of museum -like. Musty, moldy, dusty, devoid of customers, disinterested off-putting staff, sanitary facilities dating from the 40s and in unkempt disrepair... Cheers, John

John, that's depressing. I've eaten at dozens of Waffle Houses in a number of states ( great breakfasts ), and fortunately I've never had an experience anything like yours. Obviously, the manager of your bad WH is a truly incompetent individual who has no business running a restaurant. Did you report this unit to corporate h.q. in ( I think ) Norcross, Georgia?

I have always hear bad things about Waffle House, so I had a chance to try one recently in Indiana. IMO, I thought it was ok, there is not much you can do to eggs. I would definatley stop a one again. MD

I have been in Waffle Houses that were spotless and more than a few that were filthy. In my opinion they provide mediocre food. But of course that's what makes these discussions ( and life) interesting- different tastes and opinions and wyas of eating.
