MH, the location listed for the busiest Waffle House, is that the one right next to the gentleman's club?

My experiences with WH have been fairly good, although I recommend highly AGAINST the 5 oz sirloin. The one I got at the Georgetown, KY Waffle House had the consistency of a dish rag and the flavor one would expect from one. No amount of A-1 remedied this...

I wouldn't go to WH for a steak for the same reason I wouldn't go to a steak place for a waffle.

I go to the WH for breakfast and I seem to always get the same thing. Hashbrowns with everything, eggs, steak, waffle, coffee and diet coke. I have never been dissapointed. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

My son was in heaven on our midwestern swing last week. We don't have Waffle House in New England, so we went to FOUR different Waffle Houses for breakfast last week. Toledo Collinsville IL Louisville Columbus OH (Stringtown Rd) He can't get enough of those waffles, and covered and smothered hash browns.

I've been to the Stringtown Road Waffle House (in Grove City, not Columbus) a number of times. It's a good one. But, hey, why did you go only for breakfast?

We had a late breakfast this morning at a 2-month-old Waffle House in Bethlehem, PA. The last time we'd been to a Waffle House was the day we were leaving Atlanta to move to PA in 1982. (I had lived in Atlanta for 6 years and never ate at one since I had always heard it referred to as "Awful House" and figured it was no good. ) But I always fondly remembered the eggs and cheese, grits, and raisin toast I'd had in '82 which is what I ordered today and thoroughly enjoyed. Hubby had hashbrowns scattered, all the way, and an egg, bacon cheese wrap sandwich which he thought was tasty. Very friendly waitress, too.

Southern joke. Whay has six breasts, six legs and eight teeth? The night shift at WH. My standard order is two over medium, dry whole wheat, crisp browns, water and yes, I want the grits.

I never been to a Waffle House, but by reading these posts, I get the idea that you either love Waffle House or You hate it. We don't have Waffle Houses in this part of Michigan, but the first chance I get I am going to stop at a Waffle House to form my own opinion. All these posts really have gotten my attention, besides I am always a sucker for good crisp golden brown hash browns

Michael - You're right, it's Grove City outside of Columbus. We were only in town for the Clippers game. Drove there after the Reds/Giants day game. Ate dinner at Cooper Stadium, White Castle snack after the game, breakfast at Waffle House, hit the road again. I usually get 2 or 3 eggs over well, bacon, hash browns (scattered, smothered, and covered), white toast, and grits (another food you can't find in New England).

My wife asked me to add that the condiments are head and shoulders above ANY other restaurants around. Heinz 57, Tabasco, and others are always on the table.

Dinner consisted of a few dogs, but we missed dime a dog by a couple of days. We were there on Thursday, the 18th. Dime a Dog night was this past Monday, the 22nd. I could do some damage on dime a dog night !

Ah, well, you're only allowed ten at a time. They have Dime-A-Dog Nite four times a season. Of course, they also have White Castle Nite and Donato's Pizza Nite.

Been watching and reading all posts regarding Waffle House. Michael Hoffman, I totally agree with you regarding Waffle House. The three we've eaten in have been clean, friendly, and the food great. I too love the hash browns covered, smothered and topped. In addition to other things on their menu. We most frequently visit the one in Grove City on Broadway and the servers there are so friendly without being cloying, and we really enjoy meals there. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I have no quarrel with that. Personally, I don't like Ruth's Chris Steak House, but that doesn't mean that it's not good. Just that I don't like it. When we want breakfast or brunch (which we usually do to avoid crowds) we go to places we know are good for those meals. If we want a good steak, we know of good local places that serve as good as or better than the high end steak places. Waffle Houses get my vote anytime. Donna

Donna, another place you might want to try for breakfast is the Grill & Skillet on East Main. I think it's in Bexley, but it might be Columbus. They have good hash and eggs, and their country-fried steak with eggs is pretty darned good, too.

Their waffles aren't bad, but I understand they're nothing like the ones from the old country. I believe they are called awaffles (pronounced Ay-Wawves.)

Waffle House fills a niche somewhere between fast food and true Roadfood. I like the hash browns and other breakfast stuff. The prices are reasonable. I've been in places where I didn't have time to hunt down a good independently owned restaurant, and WH was my choice over a generic burger.
