Waffle House Hashbrowns How Do You Order Yours?

Double order Scattered, Covered and Peppered....Russ

I have never eaten at a Waffle House.(There are none in Wisconsin that I know of)Do explain...

Usually I order them scattered light and smothered. But, I will occasionally also get them peppered, and every so often scattered light, smothered, peppered and topped.

For those unfamiliar with Waffle House terminology, scattered means spread out on the flat griddle and cooked on both sides, instead of cooked in a ring and similar to a cake. Light refers to the degree of doneness, meaning not too browned. Smothered adds chopped onions to the potatoes. Peppered adds sliced jalapenos, and topped means covered with chili. You can also get them diced, which means with chopped tomato; chunked, diced ham; and covered means with a slice of cheese over the top. They will also add mushrooms, but being allergic to mushrooms I don't know the correct Waffle House terminology for them.

Ann, Waffle house is debated many times in Roadfood. In my opinion only, I suggest that if you ever have the opportunity, please try.

I for one truly enjoy their hash browns, You can order them many ways but if you really want to have a good experience, try them all the way with everything. It is a full meal and very good.

Covered, smothered and whatever. They are very good.

Sounds fantastic!!!I love hashbrowns to begin with, but the choices at Waffle House are outstanding..

Scattered dark, smothered, and covered for me. Living close to I85 in Georgia, I can be at either of 2 Waffle Houses in less than 10 minutes. Like Sundancer said, a double (or triple) order of hashbrowns is a meal. pb

Scattered all the way at $4.10 is a full meal for me.

Any waffle Houses in NJ? I can't seem to bring up their Web Site.

Never found one in Jersey..wish we had one. We go to Lancaster a lot and eat at one there every trip. Hashbrowns are super. anyway ..so I change with my mood. You can't go wrong. Lot's of roadfooders rave about Waffle House...and it deserves it for food quality and value!!!

I don't like chili on them it makes them soggy or I would take them all the way.

Scattered, crispy and smothered is my usual. On occasion I like to have them covered and peppered. I really love WH hash browns.

My standard order is scattered, covered and diced. A double order, paired up with a pattymelt or bacon cheesesteak. I'm going to put a cardiologist's kid through college someday.

Give me a large with nothing. I just love the taste of hashbrown with a little pepper and a little salt. And a little griddle grease.

Do you get any Lipitor with them? Or at least a discount at Roto-Rooter to ream out your arteries?

The closed to Jersey is if you go out RT 78 towards Pa. Once you cross over in to PA it is the 1st or 2nd rest stop-I stop there every year on the way to Eagles traing camp>

Waffle House hashbrowns make Waffle HOuse one of my very favorite places for breakfast, or lunch. Double scattered, covered smothered and topped....a truly good breakfast or lunch. In fact, if given my choice, I would rather go to a Waffle HOuse for hashbrowns done in any configuration, for my birthday, than any other place I can think of right off hand.

Waffle House makes a darned good BLT also. That's about the extent of my eating experience at Waffle House, but just those two meals are adequate to make it one of my favorite haunts, Roadfood-wise.

The last time I was at a Waflle House (which, hopefully will be my last visit) they were scooping their "hash browns" out of something that looked like a giant milk carton that read something like "SHREDDED POTATO PRODUCT". Yum.

AFIC they have THE Best hashbrowns anywhere. I like a double order scattered and 3 eggs over lite.

Usually a double order scattered and smothered. Sometimes also peppered.

At 5:30 this morning they were scattered & smothered with two eggs over easy - hit the spot.

Double order, scattered, extra, extra crispy. Sunny side up eggs on top.
