My grand daughter is celebrating her 11th birthday today and requested a Waffle House breakfast. (no school in our school district today).) She ordered the hash browns with everything on them, except chili on them, along with sweet tea and toast. The waitress asked her if she wanted eggs or a breakfast meat and her reply was that she was going to have another order of hash browns when she finished her first. I believe that she has outstanding taste when it comes to food. Incidentally, we have 2 diners within 5 miles of us and the trip to Waffle House was 60 miles round trip so guess that makes it a Roadfood trip.

I pine for Waffle House food. Haven't had any since my over-the-road truck driving years. (in other words, quite awhile)

What I hate is that most breaakfats dont include the hash browns. Buy the time you order them wxtra you pay a pretty high price for your food.

We had breakfast at a diner this morning and the hashbrowns were included.with our meal. They were so bad that I wish that the price of the entree would have been less and that we could have chosen whether to have them or not

My experience has been that the hash browns at Waffle House are almost always better than those at the average mom n' pop restaurant. WH management must have made a pact with the devil; that's the only explanation for this that I can think of.

Well Im glad my gramarical error was caught before anyone was permanently scarred for life. Rather than correct it, Ill leave it up as a beacon for all posters. It will stand to remind one not be careless and rush a post with out proofing it! At least IT was a careless error. Im not one of you ignorant numb-nuts that wouldnt know the difference. I guess picking posts apart might be a new board activity. Ever since the change the quality and number of reviews and trip reports has gone down to where Instead of checking in here every couple of hours-once a day is enough. As someone else said its turned into a hotdog board. britt

I am curious. Why do so many people call the food at Waffle House greasy? It seems no more greasy than any other breakfast that I have ever had. And waffles are certainly less greasy than are pancakes. It does not make any sense to me.

What I like most about Waffle House is their organization. If you appreciate management efficiency, this is a prime example of how to do it. Everything is carefully portioned out, waste carefully addressed (note the pork chops come in individual cryovac packages) etc. These people wrote the book on efficiency. I just love to watch them behind the counter..Good stuff! The food itself? It's ok. It's nice to see one available, if you are on a trip and need a place to stop..You always know what to expect. I sure rather eat bk at a Waffle House than at McD or BK.....

I'm a fan. It was always a family stop on vacations growing up, and while I don't go there as often as I once did, when you're somewhere and you're not sure what's good, Waffle House usually fills in as 'old reliable.'

NebGuy cfleagle1022 look at the floor under counter, thats whats in you hash browns I was trolling through the park one day. same could be said of the original post. do we really need another WH thread about the merits of this franchise? but, if there is going to be yet another thread on this topic, certainly when the original post says "love it or hate it," that will solicit responses from both sides of the spectrum - and a negative response isn't trolling anymore than than the original post itself.

My wife and I like to travel a bit. When we do we have a rule: We don't eat in chain restaurants - with a couple of exceptions. Waffle House is one of the exceptions. While traveling in the south, we will stop once for breakfast at a Waffle House. I like their grits and country ham.

I'm no fan of grits, but I do love the country ham at Waffle House. It is consistently among the best that I find in my southern travels.
