Wally Amos's new cookie

Costco (west coast & Hawaii) is now selling cookie dough called "Chip and Cookie" created by Wally Amos, the original Famous Amos cookie guy. He was at our Costco giving out free samples of his new cookie. It is made with pure butter (no trans fat), real chocolate chips, macadamia nuts, and real vanilla. I made a batch for my kids this week. It is a little too sweet for my taste, but my kids loved it. It will bake up crispy if left in the oven long enough, but my kids like them soft and chewy so I have to take them out of the oven earlier. Amos is still the upbeat, personable man he always is, with his kazoo and watermelon hat.

that sounds good. I wonder if the product will make it to the East coast anytime soon.

Wally is from my neck of the woods. I actually met him years ago just before he became "Famous Amos".

I am addicted to the little bags of the mini-Famous-Amos.

The gift shop in the resort where I work has them, and between the 3 of us next door(in the cafe), there are never any for the guest's to purchase.
Life is good with a Famous Amos cookie!

Famous Amos was bought out by Keebler. It had changed ownership several times before Keebler bought it. When Wally Amos first sold the franchise, he was banned from using his name or image to promote anything having to do with cookies. Since Keebler bought the rights, they have reversed the ban and even welcomed him back to help promote the Famous Amos cookie line.

He now makes a decent fee as an inspirational speaker. Despite his past financial troubles, he is still positive and quite a personality.

I still remember him on the tv show Taxi where he came down from the ceiling in Latka's apartment ala Mary Poppins.

At Costco, he ran to the refrigerator to grab a tub of the cookie dough for me to buy. I tried to shake his hand but he wouldn't let me do it and he backed off. Then he showed me his hand and he had a plastic glove on covered with cookie dough and said he was baking cookie samples. He offered me his elbow to shake instead and gave me an elbow hug. What a sweet man.
