Walter's Hot Dogs Mamaroneck NY

Located on Palmer Ave in a Chinese-style stand. Veal-pork? blend split & grilled, seemingly not found anywhere else. Modern outposts in strip malls in Yonkers and Norwalk failed but they still line up for the original , over 75 years & counting. Must rank in the national top 10....

The dogs at Walter's are a blend of 1/3 beef 1/3 pork and 1/3 veal made by Boar's Head. Good mustard (with bits of pickle) but otherwise bland dog. Very popular, but in my opinion, ordinary.

I found these to be bland beyond belief, and the lack of a choice of condiments, coupled with an unfriendly server, made this a "must-miss" for the future.

Its been quite a while since I lived there but we used to go to Walter's for lunch from time to time. Enjoyed the hot dogs, recall them being crunchy/crispy. Hope to be in that area again sometime and drop by.

Still wishing we had more variety like the east coast around here...

I realize this is resurrecting an old post, but I must ask: what takes them so long? We were on line for fifty -- that's 5-0 -- minutes with approximately 15 people ahead of us. This is a place that makes exactly three things: dogs (with only two toppings available, mustard or "special" mustard), fries (albeit 4 types, but still) and drinks. The dogs are already on the grill, the fries have been removed from their freezer bags, and drinks....are drinks. So why does the line move so darn slowly? The dog itself is tasty, with a faint bacon flavor, but truly nothing to write home about. Walter's features wonderful architecture, but for that you can park across the street and take a picture. So what gives, Walter's fans?
