Wandering Jew's Baseball Quest, Labor Day Weekend

Dale, the Wandering Jew is on another of his quests for pleasure watching Minor League Baseball in a variety of locales and venues. He will document his many stops and some of the places he has enjoyed the local chow as part of the excitment of the trip. However I feel the need to begin his report in the "middle", so to speak! He has been in Indianapolis, is here in Louisville now and will journey on to the other cities on his list in the next couple of days. I joined him for a BBQ lunch today at the BOOTLEG BBQ stand on Bardstown Road about 10 miles south of Louisville. He selected this place because it carries the Western Kentucky Chopped Mutton BBQ (one of the few places in Louisville that does). Bootleg BBQ Sign and outdoor eating area- Bootleg BBQ Menu, pretty reasonable prices and good sized portions Here is something you don't see too often!! Dale Treats the Mayor to Lunch Wandering Jew Photographs his lunch--for the record!! From my side of the table, Pork Ribs to share between us, Pulled Pork Sandwich for me... Mutton Sandwich, Burgoo, Beans and Potato Salad for W J My pulled Pork was a bit 'pastie'. I should have asked for it with the sauce on the side Like Dale did with his Mutton. The Ribs were pretty good. Dale liked the Burgoo and the Mutton. He headed downtown to check into his motel, and I came home to post this and now it is N A P time!! Thanks to W J for a nice lunch!

Mr Mayor- Thanks for the pics and report from your meal together. It looks like some pretty good food. I am meeting Wanderingjew later today at Primanti's here in Pittsburgh before he flies home. I will try and post a few pictures.

Oh, Sundancer you MUST go to Primanti's! Their address is 46 18th St. Follow the signs to the "Strip District" I know it sounds wierd but it's all food places! There is a Lydia's, Wholley's, Pennsylvania Macaroni, Primanti's and a bunch of other eateries down there. The Pittsburgh folks can probably give you more places....I've been gone from the Burgh for quite a few years!

I have read about Primati's so much that it will be my destination. I hope to only be in Pburg one day before driving on up to Erie. It is business only but I will take time out for a good corned beef or pastrami. Thanks Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I met wanderingjew this afternoon for some Primanti sandwiches at the Moon Twp. location. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn't a very talented photographer. Or maybe my camera just sucks. Sorry about the blurry pic Dale had the kielbassi and cheese, while I had the capicola and cheese.

I still can't understand why anyone would want to eat a pastrami sandwich on Italian sliced bread withall that crap on it -- especially fries. It has to be strictly local. Someone from Pittsburgh opened a place in my town that served the Primanti Brothers style sandwiches and it didn't last long enough for a full month's rent.

My baseball trip ended over a week ago, but I've been here in Queens NY for work ever since. Today is the first time I've managed to find time to get on line. I'll be back home Sunday evening after a brief stint up in Albany NY to visit family. Not much by means of roadfood here in Queens, but full trip report early next week for the ballpark trip.
