Hi kids, we made it back to Alaska after a grueling 7,000 mile drive in 12 days, with only some vehicle and equipment damage.
I wanted to tell you about the amazing people at
Challenger Door who made and installed a custom concession window into our trailer.
We picked up our rig in New York, and after spending the night in Pittsburgh, we dropped off at their place the next day in Indiana so they could install while we went and purchased cook gear in Milwaukee. We had a one-day time slot, and they did the entire job in that time, which was complicated.
The trailer already has insulation, interior FRP walls, and electrical outlets which they had to remove and rewire. They also installed an outside customer shelf, as well as repaired our hood fan on the roof which had come off during the drive and punched a hole in the roof and the exterior skin of the trailer!
Our window is a custom upper-lower horizontal slider setup, with screens on all opening windows for airflow and mosquito management, and the outside cover was color-matched to the trailer's existing paint. The shelf is 14" with hinges and latches, all installed and perfect.
All this work was done custom, all done in the timeline we needed, and they did all the extra stuff - for around $1,600!!!
If you EVER need a window, go see Challenger - the Amish workers in the plant are some of the hardest-working skilled craftsmen I have ever seen.
Thank you, Challenger Door!
