Washington, DC recommendations

I'm taking a bus trip this weekend to Washington D.C. I'm just using the bus for transportation, so that means once I get there I can go where I want. Only $30 round trip per person from Philadelphia.. not bad.
Anyway, are there any interesting places I should eat lunch, maybe get a snack in the afternoon, and later on dinner at? Hopefully it'll be within walking distance or maybe I'll get an all day Metro Pass if needed.

Ben's Chili Bowl has been on Food Network, and also on the news when president (candidate?) Obama ate there one day. Even though it was first on the list I made, my wife never made it there.
