We lost James Garner...

It never seemed like he was acting; he just was being the character that the dramatic or comedic script called for...Maverick, Rockford, Doris Day's husband, The Americanization of Emily!

Probably my favorite television actor ever. Rockford Files was the best t.v private detective show ever and I loved the homour and grace of the show as well as Garner's many other starring and supporting roles. Thank you for the many hours of pleasure. You were the first t.v. star I remember and you brought me so much pleasure.and joy.

Sad.  He was one actor I never had the opportunity to meet.  My favorite actor.

    Rest in Peace, Mr. Garner.

What a talent.  What a career.  He was just a natural at everything he did.  He will be sorely missed.

Space Cowboys, Support your Local Sheriff/Gunslinger, and Murphy's Romance all were fun films.
Rockford was (to me) like Steinfeld with a lot of action scenes and driving added into the scripts.
Garner was a genius as low brow comedy. I enjoyed his style .

He was FABULOUS in "The Great Escape."  I think I fell in love with him when he was in "Maverick," though!

Just last week I was able to record "36 Hours" a (maybe not great) movie he made in 1965 with a great cast.  Himself, Eva Marie Saint, Rod Taylor and (if a building can be a cast member) the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park.

He was great at comedy too, remember 'My Fellow Americans' or 'Space Cowboys' or the previously mentioned 'Support Your Local...' movies. The first 'Support,,' movie had a great cast, Bruce Dern, Jack Elam, Harry Morgan & Walter Brennan.

Also, like Paul Newman and Steve McQueen, James was quite the driver.  It's been said he did all of his own driving in the 1966 movie Grand Prix.

When it came to the show Marerick, Bret was the best, Bart & Beau, not so much.
    RIP

I highly recommend watching the movie 'Sunset'. Garner was awesome, playing an older Wyatt Earp.Bruce Willis (in his second starring role) played cowboy movie star Tom Mix. It's about the early days of Hollywood. RIP, James.

Every so many years or so, I re-watch the Rockford Files ... The last few months happens to be one of those times.

James Garner hasn't been lost- he just passed away, but his family knows where he is.

Casey Kasem, on the other hand, who is also dead, has apparently been lost.
