This Sunday, May 7th, in the first hour of Weekend Edition on NPR, Jane and I go for a spin around Washington, DC, with Liane Hansen and wind up digging into chili smokes at Ben's Chili Bowl. The segment is scheduled to air right after the puzzle.

I rarely miss hearing , but rarely getting, the puzzle, so I'll be sure to catch Jane and Michael eating chili.

Just finished listening. Really enjoyed learning a few of the "trade secrets" of touring life. That sweet potato cake and pie sounds killer. Thanks for sharing.

Once more, didn't get the NPR puzzle, but enjoyed the Sterns' interview - they came across as stellar eaters and interviewees.

Great interview, I taped it. I also liked the recent one on WAMC, Northeast Public Radio. Great job on both.

Dearfolk,
Your radio appearance was most interesting and well worth getting up at such an unGodly hour (for me, anyway!). You made me want to get in my poor grumpy ill-running car and drive straight up there just to have one or two... or three or four half smokes. (Gee, four half smokes makes two whole smokes... or do they sell 'em that way?)
If you ever make it down this way, O Sterns, we'll have to connect one Thursday at The Gateway Cafe on North Avenue for some chicken mull, then adjourn to Bill's BBQ right up the road on Georgia 106 for a second opinion on the matter.
