quote:Originally posted by Al-The Mayor-Bowen Unabashed, I don't put down a lot of hard liquor. I have a couple of commemorative Maker's Mark Bottles - unopened here, and two open bottles--one of Knob Creek and one of Barton's Gold. The Barton's is an inexpensive Owensboro,KY Bourbon that does just fine in Mixed Drinks (My Redneck Sours!).. The Knob Creek has been on the shelf here for over a year. It is available as special event-sipping nectar. These winter nights my one shot late in the evening is usually Peppermint Schnapps, either straight, or stirred into a nice cup of Hot Chocolate. Knob Creek, Stone Barrington's favorite Bourbon!

Skol! Great addition to the forums! Unless Cajun King's found it, will try and search for Grampy's classic topic on martinis.... Yep, he found it - topic ID 1901

quote:Originally posted by Rusty246 When I was down in Key Largo last week we went to "Sundowner's"( I didn't know it was chain related until yesterday)and had a couple of "Key Lime Martinis" gosh they were good. The bartender gave me the recipe, the bulk recipe as she makes them, I'd guess two gallons at a time?? At any rate in was a large container. They were sweet but oh so good. I guess you might call it a "foo foo" type drink, my BF drank one and liked it but not sure he'd tell his buddies. 1 - bottle citron vodka 2 1/2 bottles "Ke Ke", this is one of the "Key Lime" ingredients, not even sure if they sell it here but I intend to find out! 1 c. Key Lime juice 2c pineapple juice Serve in a martini glass with a graham cracker crusted rim. When I lived there (in the Keys), Licor 43 was also used to make Key Lime Cocktails...It has a sweetish vanilla flavor which gives it a nice taste.. http://thespiritworld.net/2007/08/06/licor-43-aka-cuarenta-y-tres/ I dont recall pineapple juice being involved though. I am pretty sure it involved rum or vodka, DEFINITLY licor43, and roses lime juice or key lime juice. We used to make a frozen one (this is going back to 1989 at Holiday Isle) that had the graham cracker rim. Topped with whipped cream and more graham sprinkles....For some reason, I think we used whipped cream in the blender along with the other ingredients. Maybe it was heavy cream......Been a long time since I have made one! Oh it was sooo good.
