Yes, I finally bought the closed sandwich shop and am turning it into a deli with take out, dine in, drive thru, and delivery. My hours will be 7am to 8pm, lunch and dinner delivery only. However I need a name, nothing "cutesy" or trendy. Just a good solid name that describes what I do and what I have. Any direction will be of great help.

        LMFAO

        But oh so true.

Tell us more about what you plan to do with it that will make you unique. What do you want your Signature Items to be?. What makes you any different than all the other sandwich/deli shops out there. Sounds like you are using the Ready - FIRE! - Aim Marketing Plan.              I have it--------NOW, what the hell do I do with it?

Not at all. This has been planned out for a while. It's going to be a breakfast, lunch and dinner sub shop, with really good breakfast sandwiches and above average coffee, great subs for lunch at an extremely affordable price, and an option for lunch/dinner delivery, other than the other two choices of pizza and Chinese (which everyone is sick of).

I just need a name that kind of ties it all in... or should I just name it after my daughter, Jackie's Deli? The menu will spell it all out anyway.

There is only one other sub shop in the area that serves what I have, but they are inconvenient to get to, along with being overpriced. They have no delivery and no possibility of a drive thru.

I can match their quality at a lower price as well and have skilled help waiting to be employed.

Don't get me wrong but if they are doing ok or if you think you have to compete with them then they aren't over priced.
Before you think price think can I take the customers with quality and location. You also mentioned delivery, that equals added value. If they've already established the price for your area don't leave money on the table.

There is already a Sub Stop Cafe in Gainsville, FL.  You probably wouldn't want to have any legal problems over the name.

Interesting!  Guess I wouldn't know that from California.

I'll have to do some more thinking.

                      The Sub Standard

Sub Standard without the "The" doesn't sound good.

                      Sub Station?

Near a golf course?  Sub Par!

Ocala Grinders  (Makes people come in to find out what a grinder is)

I need to go to sleep.

I went to a new FRANCHISED sub shop today called Firehouse Subs. www.firehousesubs.com Their in-shop marketing was fantastic - totally coordinated from drink cups with stories of heroic efforts of real firefighters to the little plastic Fireman's Hats for the kids. I'll give them a little slack because they've only been open a few weeks, but the product they delivered and the quality of their employees was Sub-Par. (Pun intended. OOPS! Mar52 beat me to it!). The point being that no matter how good your Marketing is, if the Quality of your product and people isn't there, it doesn't matter what you call yourself or how well you market your company.

Since it sounds like you're going to have pizza too, I'd go for a name with an Italian Theme to it like:

                        PRIMO PIZZA & SUBS!
SLOGAN: "WE TAKE GREAT PRIDE IN OUR QUALITY PRODUCTS, PEOPLE AND SERVICE!"

Your Name & Slogan needs to define who you are.

I like the idea of a simple name as well.  Jackie's Deli is fine.  Hwy 19 Subs.  Hwy 40 Sandwich shop.  Obviously I don't know where you are located in Ocala, but you get my point.  Let me know where you are.  My Dad is in Dunnellon, and I'd like to stop by the next time I'm down that way.

And I know you were looking for suggestions for names and not for suggestions on how to run your business, but I would just say, be very careful with the whole low price provider approach.  It's a slippery slope.  Remember, falling prices equals falling margins.  Best of luck!

I'm with the "keep it simple stupid" crowd...names can be good/interesting/new/different/strange whatever but in the long run your product and service are whats going to keep you in business. I like your name and your product as the business name...people will know what they're getting and from whom they're getting it:

                              McDonald's Hamburgers
                              Famous Dave's Barbecue
                              Ted's Famous Steamed Cheeseburgers
                              Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana
                              Ted Drewes Frozen Custard

...but really a name is a name is a name and won't truly make all that much of a difference (it can...but it won't).

Some names do just stand out to some people when they first see it. My favorite on this site for the short time I've been here is,
                                  Pops Dog House.
Makes me want to visit Pop. Have a dog. Find out why his wife put him there. Invokes a picture in my mind of Santa without the beard but still with the Ho Ho Ho. A great place to kill some time.

                                          First, congrats!

Second, as a naming consultant, I have a few pointers regarding potential names:

                                          1. First, always begin with easy to say, spell and remember.
                                          2. A name that is unique and differentiated as opposed to common and generic is more memorable.
                                          3. Descriptive names can be appropriate if you are competing on price or location, however if you are competing on product quality, uniqueness or range of products offered, you may wish to consider a name that supports one or more of those attributes.
                                          4. Also note that a name which is non-product specific provides flexibility for the future. You may find that whatever drives traffic to your shop over time is not related to the name you selected at the outset.
                                          5. Always check national/state/local name usage and trademark registrations. Most governmental agencies allow you to do this for free.

                                            The Triple D Diner
                                            "Dine-in, Delivery, Drive-Thru".

In this case, I don't think you should add Jackie's name.

                                            Jackie's Triple D Diner

I like the "Triple D Deli"  with the wording "Dine In, Delivery, Drive Thru" and if you really want to push the delivery aspect, on your sign have a cartoon type car (roadster) with a blond female driving and on the car print, "Your  Place or Mine".

I just need a name that kind of ties it all in... or should I just name it after my daughter, Jackie's Deli? The menu will spell it all out anyway.
If your last initial adds a catchy sound you could be Jackie O's, Jackie B's etc Deli.

I can match their quality at a lower price as well and have skilled help waiting to be employed.
Why not exceed their quality and charge slightly more.

I never try to match price. I lose some business but I separate myself from my competition. I tell customers I only serve premium meats and quality sides, fresh bread (or name brand like Vienna) and the real test is the taste. I've even brought the cart to a customer's house and let them taste the difference. I SELL myself and my product as a good value, not a cheap price.

                                                Ice Cream Man

Some names do just stand out to some people when they first see it. My favorite on this site for the short time I've been here is,
                                                Pops Dog House.
Makes me want to visit Pop. Have a dog. Find out why his wife put him there. Invokes a picture in my mind of Santa without the beard but still with the Ho Ho Ho. A great place to kill some time.

Thanks Ice Cream Man.  Come visit anytime.  I'm sure I will have done something to land me in the dog house on the day of your visit.  Probably invited some young lady to sit on my lap and tell me what she wants for Christmas.

Ok to get this back on point:

You can name your place anything you want but you need a unique selling point, to go along with the name. Like this

Domino's Pizza: "You get fresh, hot pizza delivered to your door in 30 minutes or less -- or it's free."

FedEx: "When your package absolutely, positively has to get there overnight"

M&M's: "The milk chocolate melts in your mouth, not in your hand"

Wonder Bread: "Wonder Bread Helps Build Strong Bodies 12 Ways"

They all promise something different than their competitors.

Most people come to the forum with a promise to serve good food,at a fair price, with a smile.

The above is not directed at you it's just true in general on this or any other forum like Road Food Pros.

They are all the same, nothing new no real promise because we've all heard it before a thousand times. Worse yet the promise has been broken before so why should we believe it when we hear it for the 1001 time, from some new guy we don't know?  (this is the thought in the mind of the average customer)

                                                  How about
                                                                                  Joe's Subs
" The Subs Ocola Talks About"

Or something with a new promise that your competitor can't equal and that you can deliver every time your customer visits?

Or if you are really brave     (and can deliver)

                                                                                      Joe's Subs
" The Subs Florida Talks About"

                                                  Just some thoughts

                                                  Jack
