Wellfleet MA French Bakery Tue, 04/10/12 11:23 PM (permalink)
Discovered an amazing French Bakery just off of Route 6 in Wellfleet, MA on the Cape.  Open Wed-Sunday, 7 to 7.  Expect a line but so worth the wait.  It's called PB Boulangerie & Bistro.  A bit on the pricey side but you'll feel like you're in France and you saved the price of the plane ticket.  The Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path is not too far so indulge as you can easily pedal off the calories!  A wide assortment of things that could fit into breakfast, lunch or dinner.  And make sure you take home some of their breads!  Possibly the best croissant I've ever had . . . macaroon too!  I went every day I was on the Cape and I was 20 minutes away - worth it!

I'm so jealous.  For a few years we had a boulangerie run by a French native that was so good we used to make a 16 mile r.t. to buy a $2. baguette.  Unfortunately he was not nearly as good at business as he was at baking.

Jim, whoever you're talking about is probably working his baking magic at Central Market or Wholefoods today.

Have tried baguettes from both; they do not compare to the closed boulangerie (Voila in Allen).

"A source familiar with the restaurant's closure said that baker-owner Jean-Christophe Blanc had plans to re-open some form of the bakery in Dallas. He said he'll go back to his native France for a brief vacation and then seek another location when he returns."
Metro-- Try tracking him down by name.
WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! I THINK I FOUND HIM!!!! YEP, I KNOW I FOUND HIM!
          I saw 2 pictures - 1 from old place & 1 from new place. IT's HIM!

Foodbme, thank you from the bottom of my stomach!  As it happens, I was going to be within five miles of there this afternoon.

I'm going to chase down J.C. and surprise Mrs. Metro with a "mystery baguette" for her "to review".

I just hope the"Bags" from there are as good as his previous ones! He may not have control over the purchase of the ingredients.

Jean-Christolpe is indeed alive, well, and baking wonderous bread in Dallas.  The wife and I are delighted!  Thanks again!
