Wendy's 99 cent crispy chicken sammich review

The line inside and at the drive-through was PACKED. Don't know why there were so many people there today but since my backup plan was Captain D's and I knew it would be busy and the wait would be even longer, I decided to stick it out.
The line moved pretty fast and I made the decision to just order the "sando" as is. Whenever it's rush hour, I never customize anything, because a) they will probbaly screw it up anyway, and b) no need to be a dick and confuse things unless you are allergic to some ingredient

I grabbed a baked potato and caesar salad as well to make it worth my while, and began eating the crispy chicken in the car.

First of all, it was about 100 degrees outside so maybe that's why it just didn't hit the spot that well. Second, I was just diappointed at the dryness/lack of flavor of the breaded chicken. The lettuce was subpar, and not enough mayo. The bread was good as usual.

I would suggest...try it! But go at a time when you can customize it. The problem is that this one requires a lot of customizing to make it taste like something. I would go no lettuce, some chili sauce and mustard, pickles and tomato. Where Wendy's really blew it was by not making this thing a "spicy" or "buffalo"....the coating is just a bland breading. Imagine eating the Wendy's chicken nuggets without any dipping sauce. Kind of like that. I give the sandwich in its conceptive state, with no modifications, a generous 4 out of 10.

On another note, I saw that there is a new item at Wendys. "Big Dippers" (chicken bites)....advertised as "perfect size for dipping!" They look huge in the picture but are probably no more than just conformed chicken pieces, somewhere between the size of nuggets and strips.
You have a choice of like 3 dipping sauces...looks like buffalo, ranch, something else. They run at $2.79 for six. Come on.....it should be like 8 for that much. I'm skeptical.

At that small price, who cares?
Its just a manufactured sandwich... anything on a 99 cent menu shouldnt be taken out of context, really.
For 99 cent?

Anyone remember the "country fried" steak patty sandwich that was around when Wendy's first came out with their 99 cent menu? That was horrible. You get what you pay for. Wendy's should have stuck to their guns and upscaled their menu vs. the opposite. Now all is bad.

Speaking of new sandwiches at Wendy's, this year during lent (and possibly now as well, I'm not sure) Wendy's was offering a fish sandwich. I tried it out and it was fairly good, but it was sort of lacking in depth. A good fast food option for a Friday night in lent but as far as character goes- nothing.

I remember a time in the somewhat recent past when use of the word "sammich" would have resulted in a new member being hounded off this site by a certain group of idiots. Now those people have left and started their own website where, presumably, words like sammich are banned. I'm glad they're gone.

Well, MSperfect does speak the truth. They haven't left despite promises to do so. I think this is actually someone who recently and dramatically said they were leaving, but hasn't yet.

Perhaps MS Perfect needs some assistance with his/her previous departure plans? Hasta la Vista !
