quote:Originally posted by Sushi_Girl in my humble opinion, Taco Bell is the worst of the fast food drive throughs. I have never ever gotten anything from there and have it be right. No matter if its 12 noon or 2 am, they manage to screw it up. How on earth can you screw taco bell up? its a friggin burrito, with things being shot out of shiny metal tubes, its BRAINLESS. I agree. I've boycotted Taco Bell because I despise sour cream and I have asked them not to put it on things and its always there. Every single time.

It seems that the concept of customer service evades the youth of today. I never touch FF but have encountered similar problems in supermarkets and such with a young staff.

When I was a teenager in the mid-70s, we had a family tradition. We would go to church on Saturday evening and then go to the Wendy's drive-up window. (Wendy's was brand-new and may have been the first place in the area with a drive-up window.) My father would order for all six of us. Then we would drive home and the key part of the tradition would occur: at least one and possibly two or three parts of the order would be wrong, or worst yet, missing, and my dad would get furious. So each week we would make suggestions: go in to the counter instead of the drive-through; pull into the parking lot and check the order before leaving; sit there in the line and hold everyone up to teach them it was inconvenient to have to fix things; or go home and then take the order back. All for naught. Week after week, we would go through the drive-through, week after week the order would be wrong, and week after week my dad would get mad. It became something of a game to predict what would be wrong. However, the food we did get was always fresh, good-tasting, and as high quality as you could get from a fast-food place. Unfortunately, the taste seems to have declined. My children don't ever want to stop there because they think everything is bland and tasteless.

#1 Wendy's #2 Burger King #3 Mc Donald's My opinion for the "Big-3". I have always found Wendy's to be the best and the freshest and in my experience has been that they rarely screw up an order. I like Burger King if I can have it "my way" although it doesn't happen very often. Mc Donald's..alas, I used to love you in days gone by, but now your food tastes like the box it comes in, your soda cups are drenched in over-run sticky drink, and you almost never get the order right. My office gets food from Wendy's about 3 times a week, and I can honestly say the order is always right on. But, the difference might be that the Wendy's we go to is staffed primarily by adults 30+ and almost no teens. It's a sad commentary, but most teens in these businesses couldn't care less about the job that they do, or the image they portray to the customer. I don't know if anyone remembers the early Mc Donald's or for that matter White Castle, but in the beginning the hiring policy was to hire only adult males, because Kroc felt that they would be the only people who were suitable for his image. He reluctantly began to hire adult women when the federal laws pushed it, but Mc Donald's was very slow to hire teens. For the exact reason we are talking about now.

I used to think that Wendy's fries were one of the best. But recently as everyone has mentioned, whenever I order my jr. bacon with fries the fries are NEVER fresh. they're stale and cold. It's gotten to where I ask them (politely) for fresh fries and even though I have to wait in the parking lot for a few minutes, it's worth it. It's funny too because I really used to love Wendy's in high school. I lived in such a small town that whenever we travelled to san Antonio (2 hours away) it was heaven! The nearest town, Uvalde, about 40 minutes away had only McDonalds and Burger King so Wendy's was one of those unreachable places; I guess maybe that's why I thought the burgers were so great. Now that I live in San Antonio I RARELY eat there...their food has gone down in quality a bit but I will eat one every once in awhile.

I just seem to have bizarre drive-thru experiences. A recent and memorable one occurred at KFC. As usual, the communication was poor but they did get the order right, but then I had to pull up to the drive-thru window. That was when the spit hit the fan. An obese pimply faced kid was at the window. Did he take my money? No. Did he proffer the product? No. What he did do was accuse me of trying to kill him with noxious fumes as soon as he saw the cigarette dangling out of my mouth. At first I was shocked, but also amused at the same time. I told him he better take my money and give me my order before I broke out some cigars that would surely kill him. If I had time to debate the pimply faced kid, I would have noted that he was working a drive- thru window and exposed to endless and very toxic vehicle exhaust. I would have also noted that he is also breathing in grease fumes all day from the fryers. Yet my cigarette bothered him. Of course, I could have taken down the number for complaints and probably had the kid fired but I found the experience more interesting than that. Why is the kid so worried about second hand smoke and unconcerned about vehicle exhaust? Why does he not worry about breathing in grease fumes all day? I think I might try to save this kid's life by driving by his window again, smoking a huge cigar and attempting murder by cigar. This time when he complains I will have my cell phone on me and report him on the spot. I am pretty sure he will get fired, but I am pretty sure I will have saved his life.
