Has anyone tried this yet?  They are also offering Bold Buffalo and Honey BBQ.  I'll probably give the Asian flavor a try.

Last week about 1:30 in them morning as my wife and I were returning home from visiting a friend, we got a bad case of the munchies so as we saw a lte night Wendy's open, we opted to stop there instead of fighting the crowds at our usual overnight choice taco stand, I like their baked potatoes but seeing those new wings offerings, my wife and I both looked at each other shrugged and said, what the heck, she got the honey BBQ with her baked tater and I got the Asian sweet n sour with my potato, we exhanged half of the others wings,  we both liked the Asian better however, me being sensitive to MSG made me have a heat rush a few minutes after consuming the meals, I even felt faint so my wife drove us the rest of the way home, obvioulsy they must use a lot of MSG as I can take a very little of it, anything more I get those heat rushes and turn bright.  Sooooo I guess if you/re not prone to MSG atacks they are good

they don't list it, but it might be snuck in under "natural flavoring" or some other terms.

At my first bite, I thought that Wendy's should drop the 'sweet' part of the description and just call them Spicy Asian Chicken Wings. They had a pretty good kick, but it was not unpleasant or unpalatable.

I think that if I get them again, I will make up a bit of rice to eat with them.

Jon, maybe it was the autolyzed yeast extract, maltodextrin, trisodium phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, autolyzed yeast, modified corn starch, or a few of those other things?

My wife got some S&S AC and I found 6 of the 8 pieces in the fridge the next morning and tried them the next day - not bad but the MSG bothers me.

Well,  maybe after reading our own NY Pizza Nut's post about MSG everywhere he planted the seeds in my mind and the others ingredients listed in thos Asian wings acted as a MSG placebo because I got all the feelings of having consumed MSG, perhaps it is those ingredients I react too and not MSG.

Makes me feel like going to a neighborhood Chinese take out where I know they use MSG and order something with it, take it home and see what happens. Fortuanately it is not a life threatning experiment,

Tommy, I am an X TexMex cook but that was many years ago... back when El Chico had some great food. We did use plenty of salt back then.

I tried the buffalo version--don't recommend it.  It tasted like they took hot sauce dipped in honey mustard and dipped breaded chicken in it.  It was bad enough I didn't finish it, and I was hungry.

autolyzed yeast extract is MSG. fortunately, you can find MSG in most fast foods, not just the asian flavor of a fast food wing. most famously, KFC's 13th spice is MSG.

And is Wendy's even still serving the AC? I saw an ad for their chicken this weekend and it only mentioned the Buffalo and Honey BBQ? Have to say they look pretty good, but the food in TV ads NEVER looks like it does in real life...so who knows....

I worked for 4x different cafe's/bar & Grill/restraunts in my cooking days, every one of them used MSG in as much of the menu as possible.  There was a 1 gal spice jug full of the stuff and it got re-ordered pretty regularly at all 4x places.  Like 1-2x month.

MSG is considered a "natural" ingredient by the food industry.  It naturally occurs in high levels in especially mushrooms and seaweeds, and commercially is produced by simple fermentation of starches.

There's a lot of mis-information or misunderstanding about it being some artifical chemical.  It is not.  No more so than alcohol.  When wild yeast lands on fresh fruit skin, contact is made with fruit sugars and fermentation begins on the tree.  That fresh plum your child is eating... inexcapeably has trace levels of alcohol in it.  Those mushrooms you love, all have moderate to high levels of MSG in them.  Like sushi?  That seaweed wrapper is loaded with MSG. Naturally.

I stopped in for a frosty recently and they were offering free samples of each flavor from 11-2 that day. The buffalo style ones were pretty good, I had 2 before I felt the icy stare of Duane, the day manager.

Do you look like a freeloader, perchance?  I would think he just is keeping an eye for kids who might think they could eat their meals there for free?

They should just bop on down to Costco and Sam's when they have their freebies out.

I'm glad I found this post. Yesterday I purchased the asian and the buffalo flavors for my daughter and I to try. She thought the asian ones were pretty poor, I had to agree. I actually thought the buffalo ones were not bad an ate 3 0r 4. Within 15 minutes I felt my heart pounding and a little lightheaded. The feeling lasted a couple of hours. I really didn't connect it to the wings until I read this. I guess it's possible there was something in them I am sensitive to. I know I will not buy them again.
