Wendy's is now launching a jalapeno burger

They saw Hardee's jap burger and said, "we can do this too" pic found here: http://www.wendys.com/food/Product.jsp?family=1&product=168 They aren't playing around. The 1/2 pound double with the japs and bacon and jack cheese in the middle. I'm a little concerned with their game plan for what's between the top part of the bun and the top burger patty. Shouldn't there be some mustard or chipolte or lettuce or something ? Other than that, you've got a great burger there

No, it's an abbreviation for jalapeno. Quit living in WW2. MikeS.

It looks interesting, I'll give it that! I don't think I'll ever try it, though, because I'd never be able to finish one. ~Jessica

Ah, the infamous and disturbing warm cheddar cheese sauce, again.

I agree, the cheddar cheese sauce is digusting...and I don't remember any jalapeno flavor... it was horrible...I'll stick with a basic single.

I'm sticking with Hardee's on this one. First, you have to have a good tasty, fast burger. Wendy's is my 2nd favorite, but I don't know that they can hold up to Hardee's when it come to burger taste. Second, I do love Wendy's, but I haven't been thrilled w/ their experimentation (i.e. Carolina Burger). The concepts are good, but they need to refine. Go Hardee's!

However, where does Hardees meet your criterion? In MY area this does not exist with Hardees, except for their breakfast menu. The Hardees in my area are ghost-towns after breakfast is over. I don't see how they stay in business.

Since we haven't got Hardee's closer than about 750 miles from here, I'll stick with Wendy's. I plan to get one, but my way. No cheese goo, but a slice of actual cheese. And extra jalapenos.

With Wendy's I have learned to keep it simple. A double with mustard, onion and lettuce, ordered midway through a peak time. fries tend to be fresher then, too. Their experimental burgers tend to be iffy

Joe Well, the burger that I had (see above) had no actual jalapenos on it...just the "cheez" stuff, which I believe is supposed to have "jalapeno" flavor (it did not).

I just tried one this weekend and it had sliced cheese, not sauce. I didn't notice if the cheese has jalapeno as the burger was covered with an abundance of jalapeno slices.

Had one of the 1/2 pound jalapeno burgers the other day at the newest Wendy's here (open maybe a month) Exactly as described in the link ingredient wise: Cheese sause, slice of pepper jack cheese, and plenty of jalapeno slices on the burger. It was decent not great. No Hardee's anywhere near here as well so I have no comparison for you all there.

Okay, finally tried one of these, sort of. I know Massachusetts isn't prime Jalapeno territory, but I suspect this is not moving at the location I visited. I ordered the quarter-pound, but what I think I got was the quarter-pound bacon and cheez wiz thing they're also offering, re-opened with a slice of the pepper jack and some pickled jalapenos added. Anyway, something else was way off. The bun was soft, but the whole thing tasted of stale bread. The bacon and peppers helped to kill the taste, but it was there. It wasn't the orange sauce, and although one of the jalapenos looked a bit wilted they tasted like they are supposed to. Maybe it was from the pepper jack? Anyway, I tried it. I've had worse (like that McD's burger with the "rye" bun and sauce, or a McRib). But I won't order it again.

Ive had this several times now, each time it had bacon AND jalapenos, ok it's NOT the worlds best burger but at least its a bit better than most of the other FF places or tastier anyway, even the orange goo adds its own little something. Of course it could just be that Wendy's is 2minutes away when I suddenly realize Ive been painting all day and haven't eaten....
