Werewolves Of London

Jordan Zevon, son of the late Warren Zevon, was on Letterman last night. This got me think about his dad's most well known song: I saw a werewolf wtih a Chinese menu in his hands Going Through the Street of Soho in the rain. He was looking For a place called Lee Ho Fuk's Going to get a big dish of Beef Chowmein Has anyone ever heard of a Restaraunt called Lee Ho Fuk's? It would either be in LA, (where Warren Zevon Lived) London, or New York. I know Trader Vics is also mention in the song. I was there around 1983, when my dad lived in the LA Area, (Yorba Linda, which was far from everywhere it seemed.)

I wish I had seen that. I remember when Warren was on Letterman right before he died. Very poignant! I have always been a fan of Warren Zevon. Just a few weeks ago, the song "Lawyers, Guns & Money" came on the radio and my girlfriend had never heard it before. As for "Werewolves of London", that has to be one of the most fun songs to sing.....especially when you have been drinking.

The first time that I was in London (1983?) I did see Lee Ho Fuk's in the Chinatown-like section adjacent to the theater district/SOHO. I honestly can't say that I saw it on any of my subsequent trips to London, but then again, I wasn't thinking about it on the later trips, so perhaps it still exists. Incidentally, the best Chinese restaurants in London are no longer located in their traditional Chinatown, and most of the ones in that section are more touristy than authentic at this point.

i just tried to post a photo of Lee Ho Fook's from a trip to London in 1995 but I haven't mastered the technique. Anyway, it existed then.

Any input?

Any input? That sounds plausible, so I did some searches (I've always been an excitable boy). Didn't find any evidence of that, but it would fit. Guess I'll head on down to ponder that over Pina Colada at Trader Vics.

Always good to find some fellow Warren Zevon fans. I watched the VH1 special on Warren's struggle to finish his last album before he died. They reran it the week he died. I was still reeling from Johnny Cash's death that same week (huge Cash fan). I remember tearing up at the little coda they ran at the end of the special, which said that Warren achived his two final goals before he died, finishing his last album, and holding his twin grandchildren. There's a new Warren Zevon album out, compiled by his son. It's called Preludes. "Well, he's just an excitable boy"
