What Did You Do Today, and How Do You Feel?

Hello All, Just wondering how your day went. Today, I cleaned my Mom's house, took her out to lunch, mowed 3 and 1/2 acres of grass, (Mom's lawn and mine) and am now watching C-Span, wishing I didn't have to go work tomorrow night. Hmmm, the wife is giving me a dreamy look. Guess my day isn't over. I hope your day has been great. How was it? Take Care, Fieldthistle

I worked until 3PM, then stopped at Wegman's and picked up spinach, corn, and potato salad to go with the ribeyes I had in the freezer. I was home by 4:25 and had dinner for the girls on the table by 5:15. After dinner I started working on cleaning out the garage... Then I stepped in a hole near the edge of the driveway and fell forward onto the pavement, right on my face. I scraped my chin, nose, lip, hands and elbows, but mostly my chin. So, I feel pretty bad right now. I took 3 ibuprofens and 1/4 of a percocet. I did manage to get the car washed at least, though. Tom

I mowed about half of the yard (about 3 acres) on the JD rider diesel with a 6ft cut..Helped Jan mulch 15 more fruit trees...We watched part of the airshow for Thunder Over Louisville as it passed over our home heading for the riverfront. The show lasted 6 hours...so we would see planes evey few minutes as we worked in the yard. Tonight (late...8PM) we grilled some steaks and watched the fireworks show for Thunder on TV. What a beautiful Spring day. I am a bit stiff from using a manure fork to unload the mulch at each tree. I downed a couple of strong Knob Creek& Mtn.Dews in slurpee Cups (32 oz). They made the aches and pains seem meaningless

Took my daughter to soccer game at 8am for her picture then the game started at 9am and ended at 10. Went to a Women's Ministry get together at church till about 12pm. Bought (ugly old) fried chicken for lunch, came home, cleaned up, made lunch (frozen hot wings--he likes 'em) for my hubby then the kids napped at about 4pm along with my hubby. I went back to church at 4:30 for a "Puppeteering for Kids" class. Came home then at 6pm I took my daughter and son to Sea World. Came home at 8pm and made crispy beef tacos for a late dinner. Washed dishes, swept, vacuumed while hubby gave kids a bath and now (10:08pmCST) i'm here and nursing my son to sleep. My hubby's trying to get my daughter to sleep, too! Whew!!!

Can't say I mowed any lawns today. But I did deal "a winner every hand" ! I dealt poker at the casino till 6 pm. Then came home, took a nice jog outside....(enjoying the fact that the nice weather is finally back) Relaxed watching the news, etc......until my old boyfriend called me saying he was going out to Somers Point to hang out at J.R.'s Tavern. They have bands playing there 3 or 4 nights a week; very comfy place, with food , too (and NJ's "no smoking" inside rules are in effect there ;makes it extra nice!!)......so I drove over about 8 miles down the Garden State Parkway to meet him there about 11 pm. The band was called "the Robyn Chrystyne" band. They did everything from Lynard Skynard ("give me two steps") to Gretchen Wilson, Loretta Lynn, and Janis Joplin. Danced around a little bit . 40 minutes there really hit the spot! had lots of fun, and was glad to get off my couch at home!

We slept late then went shopping for me a sewing machine. Came home and fixed my sewing desk to fit the new machine. Around 11 dh napped and I sewed a bit. Fixed and ate lunch. After we were all stuffed all 6 kids crawled up on our bed to watch movies for hours. Dh went and bought burgers for supper at Backyard Burgers. After we had eaten we watched more movies and played Trivial Pursuit, the 80's version. Kids bathed and are now sleeping. I'm about to sew again and dh is playing a baseball game on his pc. It's dh's only day off so we tend to veg a bit. He'll cut grass when he gets home tomorrow at lunch and I'll be cleaning. Suppose to be nice out so I guess the kids will be outdoors most of the day.

Slept late, forgot to eat breakfast. While family came over to help with some furniture re-arranging, I helped my niece with the novel she's writing. She's not a bad writer at all. Started a new book, grilled up a beautiful steak for dinner (now that I've discovered chuck eyes, I'm spoiled for anything else). Feeling nostalgic in the rainy evening, so watched "Fiddler on the Roof". Now just playing on the computer. Lazy lazy day. Oh, I forgot. I hope you feel better, Mosca! Take care of your face!

Mosca, I bet you're stiff and sore this morning. My day was a very special one that I look forward to all year. It was the first day of our Friends of the Library’s 17th annual used book sale. We accept donated books organize them in an old school for 3 weeks, then sell for 8 days. I worked there from 7:30 until closing at 4. Last year, we made $30,000+ and that’s a lot of books. I had expected the crowd to be smaller than usual because it was the first sunny Saturday we've had in months and thought everyone would be doing yard work but it was very busy. I’ll be back there today from 11 to 4. This is a room with childrens' books - This is the fiction room -

Had a tremendous day. My daughter-in-law gave birth, to twin boys, a bit premature, the oldest by a whisper, weighed in a strapping 2 pounds 7 oz, his younger brother, weighing in this corner, wearing the the other blue beanie, at a robust 2 pounds nine ozs. Both have the lung capacities of banshees, which is a good thing in preemies. Got to hold them for a bit while the neo-natal nurses were switching the hot boxes around.Pretty cool stuff. Will start two more college funds on Monday. Life does not get any better then this.

A really good day in the finally warm & sunny Hudson Valley. My wife fed the dog & cat, and jumped back into bed. (Don't worry, I'm not posting pics.) Spent the day getting ready for spring: taking down storm windows, cleaning the A/C filters, cleaning up the yard. Fixed the power output of an electric keyboard. Some escarole & white bean soup for lunch. I am stage manager for a community theater show, and we had a good house for Saturday night. Afterwards, went to hang out & play music with some coffeehouse friends, and then all went to hear a Grateful Dead cover band until the small hours. A good day.

Today's the 22nd. I got up around 5:30 (late for me) and had a coffee while deleting about a dozen posts from some overnight spammers. Just got back from a 6 mile walk with my son. Sitting here drinking a fuzion and cooling off. I have two flank steaks that marinated overnight that I plan to grill around 11 am and eat with some french fries and a salad. Will hang out with the spouse and watch a movie or something. Beautiful day here in Tennessee. That's my day. Hoping to stay up and catch the redsox/yankees tonight but it is on past my regular bedtime so I'll probably miss it.

We attended a benefit pancake breakfast this morning then I headed home for a much needed nap. Friday nite was prom nite for my graduating senior and I didn't sleep a wink till he walked in about 4:30AM! Last night my husband and I had tickets to the Kenny Loggins benefit concert for our local children's hospital......it was awesome! We had dinner out at Italian Market and Grill in Knoxville beforehand. It was a beautiful day and evening in East Tennessee! Sundancer, we love Shono's, haven't been there in awhile though. Everyone at my house is sleeping in this morning and I'm working on some calzones for lunch right now. Have a good Sunday everyone!

Today is not over, so here's what we did yesterday. Wife and I went to Katz's for lunch. Pastrami for me and the brisket for her. Next we drove around NYC, stopped in at the Chrysler building but only got as far as the lobby. The guard siad they are open during the week, so we'll have to go back. Beautiful lobby though. I love Art Deco. Next it was up Central Park West to 79th st. to see Belvedere Castle in Central Park. Beautiful day, lots of people in the park. Then a soft prtzel for the ride home and back to the Hudson Valley. All in all a very nice day. Mike

Today we did our Sunday morning walk. This walk was in the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's woods area. We walked for 1-1/2 hours with Nordic trek poles for quite a work out. After that we stopped at the grocery for supplies. Now I am online since rain moved in.

Sounds like folks had fun! Yeah, I'm OK today. Didn't sleep well last night, but percocets always do that to me. My teeth were numb earlier but they're close to normal now. Today was my car club's annual Detail Day, that I organize and am in charge of. About 50 folks showed up. We had Rod Kraft from Meguiar's come up and give us instruction on washing, polishing, and waxing, and then we spent the rest of the day working on our cars. I usually help out with a half dozen cars, today I got off with helping on two, so that was good! Tom

Congratulations, CCJPO! Hope you'll feel better soon, Mosca! It is a gorgeous, warm, sunny day in Northern Kentucky. After a leisurely morning of coffee and the newspaper, I cleaned all the weeds out of a big perennial garden in the back. There is a perennial poison ivy vine that is very sneaky and hides out under the border of the garden and in some lillies. It has gotten me every year (I'm highly allergic), including last December, despite my best efforts to eradicate it. I have dug it out, pulled it out (wearing double latex gloves topped by rubber gloves), sprayed it with Roundup, and coated it thickly with Roundup using a paint brush. It is thick and deeply rooted (I think in hell) and comes back no matter what I do. I have become obsessed with it, like Captain Ahab with Moby Dick. Today, it reared its ugly head in another part of the perenial garden. BillC. gloved up and pulled it out again...a little later, I found another section of it shooting off in a different direction. I gave that up and raked grass for the rest of the afternoon. I could hear birds singing all afternoon as well as the echoing voices of kids walking the creek behind our house. Bill cleaned up the grill and we're having the first backyard burgers and corn on the cob of the season tonight. Hurray!

Sunday was spent on the deck with watching the ducks and geese on the Tennessee River which is less than 30 feet from my deck. I am getting tired of doing this by myself. The view is super though. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

It's been a lovely weekend in south central Virginia ... so I spent pretty much all of it inside cleaning. Tossed a lot of crap I didn't need and got together a big pile for Goodwill, plus did tons of laundry. But Mr. Mandalay set up the outdoor furniture yesterday, and I'm waiting for the coals to get to the right place to grill two gorgeous sirloins. I made cauliflower salad and a big green salad, so we will dine al fresco tonight. I am feeling quite domestic goddess-like. CCJPO, congrats on your son having had successful relations!

I watched a movie on HBO called "The New World," about the Jamestown Colony. Capt. John Smith, and Pocohantas. It moved really slowly. It was almost 2 1/2 hours long, and at times it was hard to understand what they were saying. But it wasn't really a waste of time. After it went off, I got online and started to read history sites about Jamestown, and those people..and I could see that the makers of that movie took a LOT of dramatic license with the story. History fascinates me. I read an entire book once, here online, that Geronimo dictated to a young man during the years he was held captive by the U.S. Cavalry. Riveting stuff.

Slept in,ate a great breakfast, went to "Art Under the Oaks"--an annual arts and crafts and music and storytelling event at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee--where i bought a spoon made of buffalo horn with a beaded handle and had an "Indian Hot Dog"--a dog tucked in a semi-wrap"roll of fry bread dough and fried together--then topped with beans and cheese mustard and onions--tasty! Never saw them before but they were selling well. Then we came home and visited with the neighbors before a dinner of fried fish and salad and topped the evening off with a bowl of Ben and Jerry's vanilla with some good Rhode Island coffee syrup! All in all---a nice day!+

Had a great weekend learning the proper drill procedures for our Mountain Howitzers while attending Artillery School held this weekend at Jackson's Mill, WVa (Weston/Jane Lew) by the National Civil War Artillery Association. The weather was beautiful in the hills Of West Virginia some snow was still visible West of Frostburg MD and the drive over and back to Baltimore was unbelievable. To keep it on a Roadfood track I stopped and picked up some Pepperoni rolls in Fairmont on the way down.

Saturday I got up early and went to Lowe's to pick up a door and some lumber to frame it in with. Got home unloaded the Jeep. Looked at the door, looked at the house. Looked at the door, looked at the house. Asked my wife if she would like to to The Antique Rose Emporium to buy plants, usually gets me out of any project. Put the door in Sunday. joe
