Oh, oneiron, I love Nuoc Mam and use it on a regular basis, especially a dipping sauce for oysters in conjunction with rice wine vinegar, shredded diakon, cilantro, scallion and a touch of soy sauce.

I'm incredibly allergic to many common foods (Wheat, can you believe it, wheat!). I have to carry an epipen for self-injected adrenaline wherever I go. Yet I do not abstain from any food. Not one type of food grosses me out. Sure, I might turn as red as a tomato, but I will not give up tomatoes.

Sounds delicious-------I will try this next time instead of a mignonette. Can you give me more details on your prep of it?

Edsails, sure, but I never measure anything and I recreated this from my favorite sushi bar, but here goes, roughly:
2 T shredded daikon
1 T whole cilantro leaves
1 T finely sliced scallion, green and white parts
4 T Nuoc Mam (preferably Three Crabs brand, it's the best)
1 T rice wine vinegar
1 T Yamasa soy sauce

Mix everything together and let the flavors steep for at least one hour. Spoon onto oysters and slurp and enjoy!
Good Japanese soy sauce is one of the key ingredients here, do not use Kikkoman or La Choy. If you can't find Yamasa, any other high quality soy from Japan will do.

Sweet Potatoes. Anything that tastes like that should not have the word "sweet" in front of it.

I'd have to put blood sausage at the top of my dislikes list. Had my first taste in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Ranch dressing and sour cream. I hate the latter with the fiery passion of 1000 suns.

Just about anything else is fair game.

I've passed up this thread many times because there is very little I can even think of that I don't like. But over the past few days, I have seen a recurring theme on the television as I randomely surf along the electronic highway.

In the movie "Ghost Ship", two guys sit and the food they eat turns into maggots.
On some food channel deal called unwrapped or something like that, they had some candy company that grows worms and beetles and the proprietor was eating them as they were moving.

Get the picture. I don't like bugs in any form, moving or not!

The Sundancer does not eat exotic food such as snake, deer, or any other food like that.

If it is outof the norm, I do not do it.

In addition, the Atkins diet sort of limiits my options.
