What are you paying for a gallon of propane pumped into your tank?
I'm paying $2.38 right now.
Don't want a debate over who's ripping off who with exchange cylinders.......

Its the cheapest in our city. I was amazed to hear that a colleague was paying over 3 to get a very large stationary tank (that he pays rent on) filled in town. I would have thought there would be some kind of quantity discount when having them come out and cut out the middle man (gas station).

It seems like some places use propane as a loss-leader. Obviously Roadkill's situation is different because there is no competition. I am surprised that some places aren't more competitive in my city, but maybe that is because most of their clientele don't shop around. Its the people like us who get weekly or bi-weekly fill ups that hawk all the signs and get the cheapest.

I had an idea that in a place where there are a significant number of mobile food vendors, they could band together and approach a propane vendor for a loyalty discount. Something like the price will always be 10 cents less per gallon if you are a part of that mobile vendor buying "club". I think it would be a mutually beneficial arrangement. And a decent way to build community with other vendors in your area.

Where I was at last year, I had a 100 gal tank, they were charging me a delivery fee and a fuel surcharge...I dropped them and started filling my 100lb bottles at the gas station a block away, for less than the propane dealer was charging just for the lp.

$16.00 to fill my empty 20# tank, and they will weigh it and only charge me for what they put into it.
