The Orphan Masters Son, Adam Johnson, in short, it's about North Korea, if only 10% of this book is factual, there is a Hell on earth.

This afternoon I listened to a local Minneapolis/St. Paul radio station KSTP AM 1500 Joe Soucheray's Garage Logic. His guest for the first hour was Vince Flynn. Kill Shot is a new Mitch Rapp CIA thriller coming out this Tuesday. It is a prequel in the series and a follow up after American Assassin. Flynn has been going through chemo treatment for prostate cancer that had metastasized into his bones. The good news is he claims he is beating it and another Mitch Rapp novel should come out this November and it will be back to present day.

Finished Kill Shot, 200 pages into Tom Clancy's Locked On. I like him but his 800 page Novels could easily be 600 page Novels!

Finished the latest Stephen King, 11/22/63, over the weekend. Really gripping time-travel tale. You can tell that King did a ton of research.

The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch. A coming of age story built around a young teen and his fascination with the sea in the Pacific Northwest.

The Third Miracle by Bill Briggs, meticulously researched and detailed, but fascinating account of the process of creating saints within the Catholic Church. kland01s - our bookclub read the Highest Tide and all of us enjoyed it, which is very rare to get all 10 members to agree on a book.

Couple of things. I'm rereading James Herriott's "All Creatures Great and Small" books, now available on the Kindle. I just finished Anthony Bourdain's "Medium Raw." And I'm reading Barbara Kafka's "Soup: A Way Of Life" cookbook.

Right now I'm reading what might perhaps be the most off the wall book I've ever bought: The book of Genesis...ILLUSTRATED by R Crumb...!!! $25 new... For those that have never seen the Big Brother & The Holding Company record album cover art that Robert Crumb did back in the 1960's...you'll be in for a very interesting experience... And for those that have seen the album cover, the expressive drawing style will be familier...

I've heard great things about the R. Crumb Book of Genesis, BackRhodes. I just finished The Comedy is Finished, Donald Westlake's last novel. It was published by the Hard Case Crime imprint. No one knew the novel existed until the crime writer Max Alan Collins found a copy of the manuscript Westlake had sent him in the early 80s. The story revolves around a Bob Hope-like comedian who gets kidnapped by a radical group. I really enjoyed it.

Do you all remember the "Twilight Zone" episode where the guy is the only one to survive a worldwide meltdown, and is a total Bibliophile, finds the Library of Congress, only to have his thick glasses to fall off and break?
