What are you watching?

Ms OC and I just started watching North and South.  We have seen it before but its been a few years.
We also have, besides some great movies, the full set of The Honeymooners, Are You Being Served?, and Ramar of the Jungle.

I'm working my way through a ridiculous number of cheesy horror movies, some known and loved, some new and unknown, some owned, some purchased after watching. Other than that...hockey playoffs, both NHL and AHL. I don't much get into TV.

The best new show, by far, is Fargo (FX).

For anyone who has 'on demand', watch the show from the beginning.  Billy Bob Thornton is fantastic in it.

I've been watching every Edward G. Robinson movie I can find including Scarlet Street, The Glass Web, The Woman In The Window, Vice Squad, The Stranger, The Red House, Nightmare, Night Has A Thousand Eyes, and Key Largo.  When I can't find anymore, I'll start on The Honeymooners collection.

E.G.R. was also in Soylent Green with Charlton Heston.

I currently must watch NCIS, Person of Interest, Vikings, Longmire, Walking Dead, Falling Skies, Hell on Wheels, Chicago PD, and Revolution.

I recently worked my way through the entire series of Red Dwarf, Highlander: The Series, and Fawlty Towers.

Are You Being Served? and Grace and Favour (called Are You Being Served? Again! in the US) are two of my favorites.
Edit: I also recently sought out and watched every episode of Mystery Science Theater: 3000 that Netflix had, I know they're missing quite a few of them though.

Just finished the second season of House of Cards on Netflix. Since I also watched the British version I suspect I know where it is all going in the third season. I assume there will be a third season if sticking to the book plot.

I am just finishing my second run thru the ten seasons of NCIS on DVD and the reuns of the eleventh season on cable. For some reason I find myself enjoying the characters and their interaction over the eleven seasons the show has been running. Our two new Pups are named ABBY and DUCKY for characters in the series. I have not found a TV series, or program in the past that I felt so comfortable with  learning of the social and cultural backgrounds of these people.

NCIS in a procedural television drama series about the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Lots of spies, murders, etc. Mark Harmon (former UCLA quarterback and son of Michigan All America running back Tommy Harmon) is the lead character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs. It's pretty interesting, and well acted.

This coming season, they're adding a new spin-off called NCIS-New Orleans starring Scott Bakula as the primary character.

    RE- The NCIS Spin-offs.
The series (NCIS) itself was a spin-off from an earlier series--J A G-- that really took hold with a viewing base and has enjoyed 11 seasons (so far) of great ratings. As Michael described it is a 'Law & Order' style drama set in a military environment. The cast recently contracted for two more seasons with CBS so we seem to be able to look forward to seasons 12 and 13 with relish.
The two newer spin-offs NCIS-LA  (more like Miami-Vice), and NCIS-New Orleans- coming this season, but the pilot show did not impress me, both step away from the team's 'military' theme of the original series.

The cast  includes Mark Harmon as the Team Leader, former Marine Gibbs,  and his team each of whom are distinct personalities in their own right. David McCallum, the veteran actor from the Man From U.N.C.L.E. has a solid role as the Medical Examiner and contributes his 80 years of experience to the team effort as well.
Reruns of last years elevth season are currently being broadcast on CBS on Tuesdays at 8PM Eastern time.  One of the cable channels runs older segments now and then thruout the week, or you can get any or all of the seasons on dvd fairly cheap.

Since MeTV changed it summer lineup and put Ironside on hiatus I'm down to the occasional cooking show on PBS and recording MeTV's Sunday night trilogy of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Fugitive, and Naked City.  Which is thankfully not in the reverse order as the idea of a naked fugitive Hitchcock is a bit unsettling.

Waiting for the summer shows to air, my wife likes Major Crimes, a spinoff from The Closer. We both like Top Gear on BBC America. Son home from college has us watching The Lord of The Rings Trilogy as well as the first two Hobbit movies. I spend time on the cooking channel watching Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and on travel Channel & CNN watching re-runs of anything Anthony Bourdain airs. Finally, now that baseball season is upon us, I try and catch a Washington Nationals game when I can, much to the dismay of wife & son...

The new season of Longmire returned on A&E Monday night. I really like that show. I've read a few of Craig Johnson's Longmire series of books.

Even though it is fascinating at first, after the novelty wears off don't you just get hardened to it?

The FX series Fargo - a ten episode miniseries - just concluded.  It was the best TV of the year.

If you haven't seen it, get it on the net or wait for the DVD's.  Be sure to watch the episodes in order as each one is delectably chock-full of portent.

The Fargo FX series has already been on Apple iTunes available right after shown originally. I suspect it will show up on Netflix soon.

Missed the broadcast whenever it was, so I just bought the dvds of Michener's CENNTENNIAL. I think I have the book memoriized after carrying it around on roadtrips for years, so now we'll see if the TV version does the book justice.

First Episode of THE LAST SHIP will air on TNT this Sunday at 9pm. The original concept came from the famous Movie "ON THE BEACH" produced some 55 years ago
