What beer to drink while Q-in??

Those who drink wine, fruity beers, perrier etc: you should not be BBQing. Find some nice brie and go watch Merlin Rouge. Seriously I like most imports and some of the Sierras...given a choice, English beer is the way to go eg Boddingtons etc. Others?

Usually I'm really hot and sweaty when I'm Q'in, so I go for a nice pale domestic beer.

Only one - ice cold Bud in a frosty glass or from a bottle pulled from a tub of ice, or from a can or from an IV - wait, that's four. Or from a straw, or from a funnel, oh well, I needed about six to finish off the plate of ribs.

Lone Star.... I do admire your taste Shiner's is the one! Now here is the math that proves the point... Doing a good Brisket takes about 12 hours in the smoker/cooker... There are 12 Shiner's in each container that I purchase. Is it just me , or is there a correlation here? Now to take this to the next level ( Algebra II). If you increase the number of folks at the BBQ, you multiply the recipe for success to be sure there is enough for everyone...Thus... If X= One Shiner's Beer and Y= One Whole Brisket Then solve for X in the following problem. How many Shiner's will be needed to successfully BBQ 4 briskets? Xx12 x Yx4 = Success. Answer--- 48 Beers or Two Cases or 4 12 packs (per cook) BTW-- I agree with Seafarer John (see Below). This formula for brewski's is for the Cooking and Preparation Phase only. When Eating time rolls around, Sweet Tea (w/Lemon) is the beverage of choice.

For my BRITU ribs(recipe called Best Ribs in the Universe, smoked 6 hours) I did on the 4th , it was Red Hook Blonde. It was a welcome change from my Atkins diet forced choice of Michelob Ultra or Miller Lite.

I'm not much of a beer drinker but when BBQ'ing plain ole' Budweiser does it for me. Honestly after the third or forth while standing over hot coals it really doesn't matter. I used to be particularly fond of the small 8 oz. bottles packed in ice that we called nips which isn't available in all states. Was a perfect size to remain cold throughout the period of ingestion.

I guess I am like BigGlenn as I prefer a root beer. But my cooking partner at the contests prefers Shiner Bock or a Mike's hard lemonade.

Here in North Carolina, Bud is the preferred cocktail. Sweet tea with the food. At backyard events, after-dinner drinks sometime come from a jar.

When BBQueing a Santa Maria Tri-tip or good old Kansas Ribs, I like one or two Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA's. Good and Cold and Strong. Next is Sierra Nev. BIGFOOT ALE....There is a reason they call it Bigfoot! The KICK....whew.

Sierra Nevada gets my vote, although when I can find it I really enjoy Indian Wells Brewing Company's Mojave Gold.

While I enjoy the plethora of good micro brews out there, when I am at "the pit" it is ice cold bud to help me through the night

I'll pick an ice-cold Rolling Rock longneck. Or 6. As Al the Mayor pointed out, they are packaged in convenient-sized units. Top

I don't drink alot of beer, occasionally on a hot day a cold brew does go good and then I prefer something dark but when yer chowin down on a plate or 3 of of "Q" I agree with seafarer, texas and gordon, sweet tea is the way to go. Of course the afterdinner dranks from a jar are usually accompanied by returns to the platter for extra nibbles

My favorite bee with BBQ is Shiner Bock hands down! Oddly enough I either want a Shiner or something really light like Coors Light when eating BBQ. I don't really care for anything in-between when eating BBQ.

Actually prefer no beer with BBQ. Beer fills you up too much, prefer to load up on the good food instead! Gotta have my tea with BBQ.

Last year i went to Brooklyn Brewery's pigfest, they had whole hog and slaw made by some pitmasterd fron South Carolina, i think. amy way part of the Deal was all you can eat and all the beer you could drink. Brooklyn brewery's East india pale ale worked great, as the hops went very well with the BBQ. I try not to drink Bud, Miller or coors with anything , as they are the McD's/burger king of the beer world

I've done a fifth of MD 20/20 (A good vintage week) and become quite creative with the BBQ sauce..

I don't HAVE to have beer when I eat BBQ, but I do need to have something icy cold to drink. Some of my usual choices are: Iced tea, Coca-Cola, Lone Star beer, lemonade (pink or yellow), milk, or just a big glass of ice water. I will say that whenever I ask for a beer somewhere, my first choice is always Lone Star. No Lone Star, then Miller (MGD or Hi-Life), or Fosters. Budweiser is my 'fall back on it because you can find it everywhere' pick. I never drink Shiner because it's too dry for my taste. Also, I never drink a light/lite/diet anything and I have the figure to prove it. Redskin204
