I saw Tim Horton's coffee at a supermarket in Baltimore yesterday. I wonder if it was a fluke or a sign of a coming Canadian invasion.

Paul,

Green Mountain reminds me of Community Coffee in Louisiana. You see it all over the place. In groceries. In the coffee vending machines in supermarkets. In offices as their coffee service. In New England, the penetration is even higher. You see it in restaurants, gas stations, snack bars, convenience stores. Much is brewed in those Keurig brewers. There are usually several varieties/flavors to be had in these foodservice venues. Their marketing is phenomenal.

One of the first blends of theirs I ever tried is their "all purpose" Breakfast Blend, and I stuck with it. Its a medium roast, full-bodied coffee. I actually like the simplicity of one vendor having one blend. If I'm on the road, the venue I am in may not have their Breakfast Blend. Some of their other blends I like, some I don't. With dozens of types available, I can't keep track of what I like and what I don't. Their retail packages are pretty pricy, and I can usually do better with local supermarket loss leaders on quality brands.

I like the Costco roast Seattle Mountain. Particularly the Columbian Supremo and the Costa Rican. The Coffee Bean also has some good blends

Anybody ever tried any of that coffee where they get some Coati-Mundi like critter to eat the coffee cherries and then crap the pits (beans) and they gather them and grind them up. It's supposed to be all the rage and very expensive.

I've been drinking Community Coffee for 20 years. I lived in Lafayette in the late 80's and have had it shipped to me wherever I have lived. It just seems like the right balance for my taste. I drink my coffee black.

Although I love 8 o'clock I understand that it has been bought by a company in India. Can anyone confirm this?
I'd rather have the money that I spend on coffee stay within the US.

I use "The Roasterie" whole bean Sumatran. Grinding the beans fresh makes a big difference in the flavor as does using freshly roasted beans from a good roaster. Since I've grown old and had to give up most of my major vices, I refuse to drink bad coffee! No, it is not inexpensive.

Illy is wonderful but usually too pricey for my wallet. So I buy good old MJB Columbian at the store and I guzzle Charbucks while I'm at work.

Say, do they still make Stewart Brothers? I drank that when I lived in Chicago.

I stand corrected by myself. Stewart Brothers was sold at the Wet Whisker Ice Cream Shop at Seattle Center. It is now Seattle's Best Coffee.

Stewart's is from Chicago and is still there.

I've heard of that kind of coffee is it available at oldluther.com?

Right now I have City Brew Organic Chiapas Mexican
I've usually get City Brew Organic Breakfast Blend or their Northern Lights Blend.

I make my own during the week and treat myself on Sunddays during bible study to a City Brew double shot black and white mocha. It helps the kiosk is right across the street from my church and I buy my beans there too.

I will admit my family started me on coffe/milk at a young age. One half Community coffee one half milk. Down in Lousiana is was not a odd thing. Now I have to find chickory to make my coffee taste right. The curse of a service brat. We learn to appreciate the great food, but then we miss it.

Now you've got me craving chicory coffee. I think Fred Meyer sells Community here in the Seattle area. I had a flashback to 1979. Went to New Orleans for the first time and stayed at the Maison de Ville. They'd leave a tray at your door with croissants, marmalade, OJ, the Times-Picayune and that wonderful chicory coffee.

I get mine from my cat, Goober. It's much cheaper. But personally, I think the taste is, crappy.

Lee....there is just something about watching the coffee bubbling in the glass bulb at the top of the pot.
Plus the Bokar is great...I use a fine grind (at the store) & use Melita disk filters...you end up with quite a hearty brew.

We recently started using an electric percolator again. They had Cuisinart 12 cup refurbs on Amazon for $13 bucks. I do really like the taste of the coffee. So far have used Chock full of nuts and also found the Melita disk filters at Ace hardware of all places.

Folgers ... just one cup every morning for activation of spacial awareness only. Never got addicted to coffee like my ex ... She empties a 8-12 cup carafe every morning before work and then usually makes another upon her return.... lol ... and yet caffein never seems to make the list of 'Most Addictive Drugs'.

Ireland Cofee, The full roast Atlantic City Blend.
If you have ever been to Atlantic City and had coffee in one of the casinos and wondered what it was, in most cases it's probably been Ireland
I get it for my office just plain good stuff

I love making coffee in the percolator. I hardly ever drink coffee, and never make it at home for myself. I make it when my Mom visits, and I LOVE it when she gives me directions on how to use the percolator. Even though I have been making her coffee, in the same percolator for at least 15 years, she always tells me how to do it.

When I know she will be coming for a visit, I buy 8 o'clock coffee.
