What brand of Coffee is in your cup??

In other threads,we mention drinking our breakfast beverage..sometimes a brand is mentioned,sometimes not...but it is our favprite beverage..andmost of us take it seriouly. How about a survey...What brand is your preference. If you drink at other times of the day,do your prefer a different brand or blend? If you could only drink ONE brand and kind,what would that be?

If only one brand, it would have to be, Illy. To me, it's the best coffee in the world.

for home consumption, Folgers is the 1st choice, although the wife has become fond of Starbucks.

Never was much on flavored coffees. Just give me the straight stuff.

I never brew it at home for myself.

I tend to keep local, dark roasted beans in my freezer for when company comes and wants coffee.

At home we rotate through whole bean grind our own Starbucks, Caribou, and Target Archer Farms brands. Usually a breakfast blend.

Taster's Choice. I can barely tie my shoes when I get up in the morning, and since the wife is already gone when I get up, it seems like a waste to brew a whole pot of fresh.

The wife mixes Maxwell House, Coffee Mate, Splenda and freshly-ground cinnamon together for her version of Cafe Vienna.

Being meticulous on food and ingredients, this is slightly embarrassing. I drink one weak cup of Taster Choice coffee, black, in morning.

My beloved, drinks fresh brewed at home. Grinds the beans. He doesn't have a preference, but it has to be 'real' coffee.

When out and about, we both like to support local, independent coffee shops. I will order my usual, double shot, white chocolate, real caramel, with soy milk and whip cream. My husband, plain coffee with cream.

I only occasionally drink coffee at home but my 18 year old daughter(who has been drinking coffee since she was 2)loves either A&P 8 o'clock coffee or Dunkin Donuts. I buy both in whole bean and she grinds it fresh each time.

As far as I'm concerned, nothing tops Community Coffee from Louisiana, or Bongo Java, which is sold at several Nashville area coffee houses and ground from fair trade beans. No others even come close! I can't stand Starbucks:they overroast the beans and it always tastes burned.

Today I enjoyed some home roasted Honduras FTO San Marcos from their Cocosam Coop. My feelings mimic the promised flavor notes; that it would have "crisp cup flavors, apple, nuts, aromatic wood and a medium body". Man, I love my Behmor home coffee bean roaster!

Community Coffee. New Orleans blend with chicory. That is what I always have on hand.

I sometimes buy Costa Rican Terrazu beans and grind my own. I make more coffee in the summer than I do the winter. Go figure. I crave tea when it's cold out.

Well my sister sent me a bunch of starbucks coffee for christmas so that's what I'm using right now it's not my fav by far but it's doable I prefer Storyville coffee whole bean I grind it myself here at the house :)

Greg, You have no idea! She also loves caviar and, although she will eat any kind of olive, she prefers Gaeta olives, never pitted. She says pitting an olive changes the flavor! When people talk about their children being picky I'm sure this is not what they are talking about.

The girls in my store prefer A&P 8 o'clock. Either the regular in the red package or the Columbian in the brown package. I usually buy the whole bean and grind it in the store. I enjoy it too.

Hey, what ever happened to the higher grades of A&P coffee. Besides 8 O'Clock,there was Red Circle in a yellow bag..and a darker gourmet, Bokar in black??? I liked those in my younger years...Now I drink several types of Gevalia...especially their Breakfast Blend

Lee, I remember those A&P coffee's. However, I have not seen those particular blends in Dallas. Maybe they are available elsewhere.

Chock Full of Nuts Original Blend usually. Although when I travel to Toronto or Buffalo I usually bring home a couple of pounds of Tim Horton's coffee.
I like Tim's because it is halfway between Dunkin's & Starbucks...real good stuff.
Oh!.....French Market as well...real strong & real good.

Grind my own from Old City Coffee in Philly.

ALDI store brand. The sign said compare with Starbucks. I did and ALDI won, at a small fraction of the price.

First post. Had to chime in, since brewed coffee is my second favorite beverage.

We perc Maxwell House Columbian Supreme mornings, Monday thru Friday.

Saturday and Sunday the Bodum comes out and we press "premium" brew. Or current favorite is Caribou Coffee Obsidian Blend. A lot of good things going on in that blend. We also like Starbucks Gold Coast but our Kroger discontinued that offering.

My wife signed up for Gevalia for a few months so we're drinking that right now, but most of the time it's just 8 O'clock brand. About the cheapest around, but the winner of many taste contests and we've come to prefer it.

and I like my cofee like my women White & Sweet

I like the Illy brand as my coffee house blend! At home I use Yuban Colombian Coffee as it is a "green" product and is great for home use. I have been drinking Yuban for at least twenty years and it is still my favorite.

Buckmaster's is our local/regional choice. Black Satin my choice.
When the coffee company where Steve Buckmaster worked was sold in the mid-1980s, he leased a space in the same building as the Good Bean operates in Jacksonville and installed a roaster.

For a while, he operated what he refers to as a low-key retail outlet. But within a few months, one of his vendors — Michael Baccellieri of Longbottom Coffee and Tea in Hillsboro — approached him about a partnership. With Buckmaster’s wholesale grocery background it was a natural fit.

"We started out with a local group of independent stores that I had originally serviced when I was working with Renzo’s and Santino’s and we were able to maintain the customer base," Buckmaster says.

Today, Ray’s Food Place and other C&K Market stores are the company’s primary customers.

"We’ve shown a steady growth of small percentages all the years we’ve been in business," says Buckmaster, whose company has offices in Central Point and Hillsboro.

Buckmaster says the company, which has 25 employees, has been tempted to push east into new markets.

"But it would take so long to get our product to those areas," he says. "And we’re all about freshness and the product would suffer. It would require another roasting facility and a shipping hub to operate out of. Maybe at some point we’ll go another state or so in each direction, but that would be about it."

Although restaurant and other accounts have been available from time to time, the company has stayed its original course.

"We have dabbled in restaurants a little, but the grocery trade is what we know and how to take care of," Buckmaster says. "It’s not that we couldn’t and wouldn’t do something else, but the opportunity hasn’t been there. We’ve been content to do the best job we can."

The Costco near my home has a coffee roaster. We get 2.5 lbs of Sumatra beans, medium roast, for $8.49.

It's wonderful, and cheap. Often times, the beans are still warm when you buy them.

We don't have a roaster in our Costco. Going to request one! Great idea

Folger's at home, Stumptown when out and about. One of the joys in living in a coffee mecca is that almost anywhere you eat breakfast the coffee is very good.

We're Chock Full O'Nuts people too. I don't really think I have a sufficiently discriminating palate to get high-end coffee for home, so among the cheaper brands that's our favorite. We were doing JFG Bonus Blend for a while but it doesn't really taste good. Community Coffee is also good.

I alternate Tchibo Mellow Roast and Farmer Brothers Medium Roast, but have to order both online.

Farmer Brothers isn't available in Chattanooga, and our European Market consistently sells out of Tchibo Mellow Roast. Can't keep it on the shelf.

What I go through to get a good cup of coffee!

(When I'm near a Dunkin' Donuts, I stop in for a cup of freshly ground Dunkin'.)

It's got to be freshly-roasted and whole bean. Period.

I have to say my absolute favorite, if I had to pick only one, comes from Anchorage, AK.... Kaladi Brothers. The Red Goat Blend is like nothing else, and I love the Trieste Blend as well.

Peets, but I really must try Community.

If I am well prepared, then I will have something "independent" or "local" in my cup. I am currently savoring a pound from Old Bisbee Roasters in AZ that was described as having hints of hot leather (??) but turned out to be absolutely delicious.



The next pound that is waiting for me (and likely losing flavor by the day) is from Raging Sage Coffee in Tucson, Arizona. When I don't have something independent though, there is a special place in my heart for coffee from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (a CA/AZ/NV/HI chain that I grew up with).

FINALLY! I find a topic where I can actually add a couple of coffees that nobody else (so far) has mentioned! I don't have these on hand right now because I don't have a working refrigerator or freezer(!), but once my deceased appliance is hauled off and then replaced (and the sooner the better, I say), I'm going to stock up, even if I have to mail order or go to Florida and buy off the shelf.
Before I add in my own drippings, I've never had Mello Joy Dark Roast, and have heard wondrous things about it. This is the one from Lafayette, Louisiana, I'm assuming... right, Sundancer?
Locally I can buy French Market Coffee in the can, so I will begin with that because it's locally available... plus it will give me half a set of bongos immediately when emptied.
The three I plan to order are the various products of Naviera Coffee Roasters in Tampa, Florida; Caracolillo Coffee Roasters in Tampa; and Seaport (I've only enjoyed the Dark Roast, so that's what I'd order) from Texas Coffee Co. of Beaumont, Texas.
Additionally, a local micro-coffee roastery, Jittery Joe's, produces superior products, including a Jittery Joe's Dark Roast.
None of these are in my cup at present, but we can deal with hypothetics rather than actualities, can't we?

I buy alot of Cafe du Monde. Whenever I go over to the Asian grocery store outside of Baltimore I load up. They sell it for 3.99. The only other place to buy it around here is at the gourmet groccery stores, and they charge $8 and up for a can.

The wife usually gets a mix of a breakfast blend and a flavored coffee at the local Stop N Shop, but I have to put my 2 cents for Oren's in NYC. Best coffee I've ever had.

My wife buys the coffee, because she's a coffee freak. I love fine coffees too, but it's her thing. For our everyday use, she buys Dunkin Donuts, and now that she's pregnant, she gets a flavored de-caf of Safeway Select. We only buy whole beans and grind at home one pot worth at a time. After our trip to Seattle, we may start buying Seattle's Best or Peet's - Peet's just showed up in our grocery stores.

Folger's Breakfast Blend is pretty smooth and tasty and is perfect for a mild coffee first thing in the morning without too much kick. That's just my 2 cents on the topic. :-)

I just dumped out my Starbucks Breakfast Blend and replaced it with some fresh-brewed Peet's Major Dickason's. Aaahhhh, much better. Also, Community Coffee-we go through a can a week when we can get it. Dunkin Donuts is pretty good, and there's a local coffee place, Hubbard and Cravens, with excellent coffee. When I don't have time or initiative to go to the stores that sell Peet's or Hubbard and Cravens, I'm very happy with the Archer Farms free trade organic beans.
But, really, almost any good, strong, black coffee will do, especially first thing in the morning.
