The Marquis au Chocolat at Le Yaca in Williamsburg is a dessert I'd risk blisters for. Melt in your mouth flourless cake? To call it cake is inadequate. They shape it into a pyrimid and dust it with edible gold dust. Heaven! (But not really roadfood!)

I'd love the opportunity to eat my grandmother's cherry pie again. Better yet, learn how she made it (and her chicken & dumplings and how she cooked brains & eggs). It had some sort of custard on the bottom.

BTW, some mention Lady Baltimore ccake - there are recipes for that available on the internet.

Mamaw Smiths Orange cake. So rich, but so good!
Mamaw Wards fried pies, blackberry, apple, fig or peach.
Or when I'm feeling bad, chocolate gravy with cat head biscuits. Takes me right back to childhood.

Flour Power from New Orleans (actually they may be in Metarie) had a vendor's booth at French Quarter Festival selling Praline Creme Brulee. Good Golly Good!!

My grandmother's butternut pound cake. I used to call it the golden death because I wouldn't stop eating it until I was about to throw up. Sadly, she never wrote the recipe down and after her death, that was that. That was 24 years ago and still I miss that cake.
