Hello All, Autumn is approaching and so I am preparing for winter. In my area, the Shenandoah Valley, the price of a cord of wood, usually oak, is running at $130-$150. What is the price in your area? Take Care, Fieldthistle

Fieldthistle, I just got two cords at $120.00 each, delivered. I thought that was a fair price. The wood was oak and maple. Last year I waited too long and payed $150.00 per cord and I had to pick it up.

I just had a huge maple tree cut down and the wood is free for any of my roadfood friends-we have a fire pit( we call it the liars pit) , but no fireplace, so we are just stacking it up.

A "face" cord is a stack 4 feet tall and 8 feet long, but only as wide as the longest log. If the longest log is 16 to 18 inches, the face cord measures about one-third of a standard cord.

I have no idea. But a local guy always advertises his "Romantic Firewood" gauranteed to work. I think it's pretty clever.

You can't beat this forum about alternative heating information. While it leans toward the fuel anthracite, they also discuss other fuels and equipment. It's also mostly focused on the northeast. http://nepacrossroads.com/
