What is your favorite Korean food?

Hi - I just launched this site as a project and wanted to get other people's feedbacks.

What is your favorite Korean food and what would you also like to see on this site? I'm trying to add more food items...any suggestions?

Thanks everyone.

Galbi is my fav but various different kimchi's are right up there.
I've been served sometimes a dozen little appetizers that I had no idea what I was eating. For instance, there's something that looks like dried minnows and those little green transparent sheets.
So I guess I'd like to know more about the apps.
    Nice web site though!
One thing though, you had a phonetic rendition of not making a dish too spicy; can you give us the opposite as I love it hot!

Thanks for your feedback MilwFoodlovers. I am planning to have a "appetizer glossary" section where there will be pics and short descriptions of what they are. I believe those dried minnows that you ate were flavored anchovies (called "myul-chee")and those little green transparent sheets were... roasted & salted seaweed sheets (called "gim").

Thanks for checking out my site and feel free to drop by again to see some of your suggestions. More spicy food to come as well.

For kimchee I just loooooove the one made with daikon! A lot of people only think kimchee is made from the nappa cabbage and that is the most popular one for sure, but the daikon and cucumber ones are yummy too!

My favorite is the spicey Korean shredded beef stew ! (I don't remember the Korean name) Great food on a cold day !

I also the Kimchee stew !

We have a local resturant here in Columbia SC called the Blue Cactus. Great Korean food !!

addendum: just so we don't get into another debate .... the above SC refers to South Carolina !

Korean food figures in one of the more interesting experiences I have ever had. My SO and I were travelling in Ecuador many years ago and came into a town called Otavalo, which was supposed to have an excellent market for woolen goods; blankets, pancho's, sweaters, etc. After settling into a strange little hotel called Los Andes, we went out in the early evening to walk around the town, locate the market, etc. We came upon a brightly lit sign that said Comidas Koreana. Neither of us had ever had Korean food, so we stopped in. We were treated to one of the best meals we've ever had anywhere. The butterflied ribs were a great appetizer, along with fiery kim-chee. The main course was called (I think) Bulgoki, which was bbq'd thin slices of beef, served with salad veggies and more kim-chee; absolutely delicious. As had been the case for most places we ate on that trip we were the only gringo's in the place, but pretty clearly, everyone was speaking what I took to be Korean, not spanish. The family that owned the place had 1 record album that was not Ecuadorian or Korean music; this turned out to be Abbey Road, which they played for us while we ate. Went to the market the next day, then climbed to the snow line on Mt. Cayambe, one of the highest peaks in Ecuador.
Ever since, I order Korean BBQ every chance I get.

Cool, I've been getting some good feedbacks from everyone. So far, it seems like the meat category bulgogi and galbi
I was also thinking about adding udon as well so please expect that. Maybe Chapaghetti (which is the instant version
of "chajangmyun"). Those of you who doesn't know what chajangmyun...it is much like spaghetti but with black bean sauce and onions, beef, etc. mmmmm sounds good right now.

Thanks eveyone for the great forum and feedback. Keep it coming.

The little spareribs at Huntsville's Korea House.

We call them "Tendons and Ligaments." Nevertheless, they are eaten like they are going out of style.

All the cucumber-based panchan...not a huge fan of cabbage or radish kimchees, but the cukes are amazing.
Korean sushi with bulgogi beef inside it is really good too.

Oh, one other one. I used to order this even before it showed up on the buffet.

It is a red, spicy dish composed almost entirely of squid. A bit of onion, which I leave, some carrot (I think; shaved very thin), and a relatively thick, spicy sauce. Some sort of chilis in it, I guess.

Okay, I'm having a hard time here. I lived in Korea for 3 years. I married a Korean and we have a daughter.
I love Tyengjon chigae, which is a soup made from a form of spicy miso paste. Oh, it's good eatin'.
I lived in bibimpap just because I loved it.
In this hot weather, I miss water kimchee with noodles. Oh, I miss it so much!
