You dog, you!!  I guess spelling is everything, huh?  Having lived there, I'd have to say the Sonoran Desert is my favorite desert.

Now, if he means dessert, then I'd have to say just about all of them.:)

Fresh sliced strawberries that has been covered with some sugar until they make a syrup with a good vanilla ice cream.

I have enjoyed this almost every night since the strawberry season began in Tennessee.

To purchase...a Napolean, but the pastry layers can't be soggy & the custard must taste more vanilla than sweet.

To make at home...the Nabisco Chocolate Wafer & Whipped Cream ring that you assemble & then freeze for a bit. I really can't be trusted with this in the house.

I'm partial to Chocolate Lava Cake, or Molten Chocolate Cake. But right now it's really fresh, seasonal fruit, dressed with some Creme Fraiche (sp.?).

Still warm (and still slightly runny) cream pie, like my mother used to make.  Nowadays they call it sugar cream pie.

    To purchase:
I live in Indianapolis & there used to be a Dutch bakery in the Broad Ripple area.  Everything was delicious, but the best were small fruit tarts.  The crusts were like a shortbread with nuts, a thick cream filling & topped with different fruits-apricots, raspberries, cherry.  Everything was made from scratch even the fruit toppings.

    To make at home:

My mother's homemade butterscotch pie.  Her crust is to die for- made with lard.

Ice Box cake!!!  I give you 10 points for that one. It is my favorite. It is a desert worth re-examination and discussion just like banana pudding and the rest.  I think many folks have forgotten or never know about it. It is a simple, delicious comfort food. You could spend many hours making whoopie pies or make this in minutes and eat. It tastes the same.
It is hard to find the Famous Wafers on store shelves.

I have put this on as a dessert special in the past and it sold well.

We went up & down the cookie aisle at Publix looking for the Chocolate Wafers with no luck. Turns out that they're kept at the end-of-the aisle display that holds all the ice cream sauces & toppings.

One trick that I use is to lightly crumble broken pies directly into the whipped cream. Forget about the method pictured on the box. Do not break up the cookies too much. Put into a bowl and chill.

When ready, just use a ice cream scoop and serve. Or you can always eat directly from the main bowl. I do.

Or if you want to use the method in the link, chill the bowl & beaters & add some confectioner's sugar to the cream, as this will give the whipped cream more body.
