What kind of meat sauce?

What kind of meat sauce do you prefer? I have had hundreds of different sauces on my dogs as most of you, but what kind do you prefer most? A spicy chili type(w/ or w/o beans), a tomato sauce type, or a sweet bar-b-q type?

I prefer the chili type; not too spicy, not too thin, with no beans, but maybe with some finely chopped onions.. pb

I prefer a medium heat chili sauce. But overall flavor is far more important then the heat level. I dont mind beans in my sauce, as long as they take a boat motor to the mix to puree them. Most around here, including my homemade has a tomato(base)in the mix.. (Either a sauce, or cooked down tomatoes). As for the consistency, my preference is a medium one.. I dont like them runny, where you end up wearing the sauce, nor do I like a thick mix, like sloppy joe.. Something in between works for me.

Xfire - I prefer the chili type meat sauce with NO BEANS. So - Rosco's, Super Duper and the Dawg Haus in New Britain are my three favorites in CT.

I'm probably in the minority and i'm definately not a hot dog connoisseur, but I prefer the sloppy joe mix for my chili dogs.

Chili--spicy, not sweet--with no beans, but it doesn't bother me if they're in there.

There is a packet of sauce which I purchase at Super Duper, adding ground beef which I feel is as good as anything. Top the dogs with chopped onion and mustard.

Anyone ever been to Matt's Famous Chili Dogs in the Seattle area? His chili is the best. Its a tomato base with meat, no beans. Not spicey, but very good. Nice thick consistency, but not to meaty. If you have tried it, any idea on how to make it. I have been trying to make it at home, no luck. Thanks

But if you get up to Michigan, Yesterdog just took the award by the Grand Rapids Press, and the Corner Bar up in Rockford took second. (Both 5 stars in my book)..
