What the heck is Dorothy Lynch dressing?

While perusing the web in search of recipes for Maid Rites (or taverns, or loose meats, or whatever it is you wish to call it), I came across this reply in the comment section of the "Iowa Girl Eats" food blog, "You know you’re from Nebraska when you throw a fit if a restaurant doesn’t offer Dorothy Lynch dressing. ..."  I've never heard of this, so what in the world is Dorothy Lynch dressing?  I presume this is some kind of salad dressing.  If you know, could you please describe the taste and texture?  Better yet, can you tell us how it is made?  Is it known only in Nebraska, or is this a Midwestern thing?  Thanks to all who can provide answers!

The only time I have encountered Dorothy Lynch dressing was at the Chicken House in Olpe, Kansas.  I was told that it was also available in local grocery stores.

Buffetbuster, was it good?  How would you describe it?  It looks like a version of tomato French, one of my personal favorites.

The internet may be wonderful, but he didn't ask for a website to buy it, he asked how it was made, the taste and texture! Comprehension is a wonderful thing as well!

It was good.  If you are a fan of Catalina French dressing, then you will like Dorothy Lynch.

Very good, Buffetbuster, thank you.  It appears to be similar to my tomato French.

It's been in the stores around here forever.  I've never tried it either, but after these comments I'm getting some next trip.

I've seen it on the shelves out here but it just looked like just another French/1000 Island type dressing. Not interesting enough to bother buying it.

easy,  I moved to La Crosse area 30 years ago, never knew what it was till I met my wife.  She used it all the time, I liked it.  She talked me into using it when I couldn't find my favorite dressing "Scoops Delight" in La Crosse.....  Scoops Delight Country Style Dressing was the pride of Prairie Farm, WI, someone else purchased the recipe now they seem to have dropped off the map.

Hi Piney. sorry, I just found the post now.  I am heading to the store before the storm this evening -- although we've been escaping the worst lately.  Except for the cold.
