Did the Snow's chowder with extra clams for lunch yesterday.  Wow!  I wonder why I never did that before!

Prepared a can of Campbell's low sodium French Onion Soup for my mother last night.

Emptied the can into a pot, added another can of water and heated.

Put the heated result into a handled crock I'd given her in the past so that she could take it out of the over-the-head microwave oven which some moron with a degree thought was a good idea...

Put 2 dry pieces of toast looking cracker things that I found in her cabinet that could possibly have been there for at least 6 years.

Topped all of it with a good covering of shredded Swiss and put it in to her countertop toaster oven to melt and give it a nice golden-brown color.

Served.

OMG!  This Campbell's product tasted like it came from a restaurant.  I'd order it again!

Mom think's it's too expensive at $2.00 a can, but she bought it on sale at Ralph's (Kroger's) for $1.50 a can.

As I was leaving her house I heard from behind.....

If you see it at The 99¢ Store, buy me six cans!

This may qualify as "comfort food", but I still like Campbell's tomato soup and tuna fish sandwiches to dunk in the soup.  A good winter treat.

I too really like Campbells onion soup. One time I added a bit of burgundy to it and served it to guests along with the obligatory crouton and melted swiss. They raved about it and thought I had made it from scratch.

We just had their tomato soup with some heavy cream and grilled cheesed sandwiches immersed in the soup.

well, I'll give them this, they don't offer franchises. Usually a sign of a better quality chain.

None near me, though.

It seems I recall it being canned but I'm not sure as I haven't had it for years. It's called Spanish bean or alternatively Garbanzo bean soup. It's a tomato base with some chunks of potato along with the beans and also pieces of sausage (probably Chorizo) . Used to get it in Tampa at any number of places but most often in a Cuban sandwich place. I don't believe it's a Cuban recipe though, it's probably Spanish. Delicious stuff!

My favorite elementary school lunch (we were able to go home in those days - and I lived a block away) was a salami or oval-spiced ham sandwich and Campbell's Chicken Noodle.   I've probably had thousands of cans over the years.
Now, we mostly do homemade soups - often in the crock pot - which we sometimes freeze.  Haven't had much canned soup recently - but I guess if I had to pick one it would be Progresso's Chickarina.   It was a quick bachelor meal in my apartment back in the day (with some buttered crackers).

I sometimes use Campbell's French Onion Soup as a base for pot roast or swiss steak or mixed with red wine to braise short ribs.

I haven't cooked a roast in a long time, but I now feel inspired to do so. I have lots of Campbell's mushroom but no Campbell's Onion soup. In fact I don't think I have ever bought onion soup in a can, always used one of the dried packets of French's cup a soup. Wonder if that would work just the same.

I have done that too, Doug. I mix the onion soup mix, can of cr. of mushroom, and about 2 cups of water and pour it over the roast.

I just finished a can of Progresso lentil soup and it was pretty good.  For a meatless soup it's hearty and filling.

I vote for Wolfgang put soups.  They have saved me many of times by using them for a base and then adding my own ingredients/

Do boxes count?  Trader Joe's has a box of Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper that is fantastic.

This soup is fantastic. My preference is the low sodium one. I usually add some mixed vegetables.

I also enjoy the V8 soups but I wish there was more in the package(barely two servings so I usually make two boxes.

I also like the Campbells Chunky Healthy Request Sirloin with vegetables.

My standby is Campbell's Vegetable "Made With Beef Stock". Easy to fix at work, and with a salad, lunch costs me around 3-4 bucks. I usually just make my own at home.

I am a Campbells girl. Sodium be damned. I buy beef barley, split pea, bean and bacon, and of course, tomato. All are good with a grilled cheese sandwich on a cold, blustery day.Or on any day, frankly!

They had a pretty good sale recently on Progresso soups and I picked up several cans. Boy I sure don't like this brand as much as I used to. Very salty and watery.

I like Campbell's Chicken gumbo, pepper pot and scotch broth.  They are very hard to find now.  I think they were pushed off of the shelf by all the variations of chicken noodle Campbell's puts out these days.

I really enjoy the Campbell's Chicken Gumbo.

Here lately I've been fixing Campbell's Bean and Bacon with a can of spicy V8. I also add a nice dollop of Panola's Bloody Mary Mix. Makes it good and spicy.
