Chefbuba, that looks delicious. I love Shepard's pie!
Last night I made Moroccan Chicken Tagine using preserved lemons I made last week. Served it with basmati rice.

As much as I love olives, the aroma of them cooking and the taste they take on heated changes that love.

Agnes, did you cook it in a tagine?  My brother makes a Moroccan meal every year for our holidays and he serves the dishes he makes in the tagines he bought in Morocco.  He's too afraid to actually cook in them.

Chefbuba...  It's way too hot for Shepherd's Pie here although yours looks tempting.  Lamb or beef?

I shall assume you have air conditioning. Anything that requires my using the oven simply does not happen in July or August.

Well, sure...if someone were to make me Shepherd's Pie, I would absolutely eat some! They just can't make it in my house.

We actually have cooled off considerably the last couple of days, and are now in the high 80's with dew points down around 50-60, so the humidity has backed off a lot.

Dammit. Now I want Shepherd's Pie. I wonder if there's still any in the freezer...

Shepards pie! Awesome! One of the best, cheapest meals. We had horrible temps here, as well, Felix. I made a big green salad with lots of stuff in it-we enjoyed the coolness of it.

Had Israeli food for dinner, picked up from a place called Nagila.

Baba Ganoush, hummus, Israeli camponata, felafel balls, pitas, some sort of lamb and some sort of beef along with two types of Persian rice (curry/lentil and cherry) and a Chinese Chicken Salad.

It was Israeli food served with International leftovers at my brother's house.

Last night I cooked a smoked butt, some cabbage and potatoes all in the same pot.  I mixed up some Coleman's mustard for the meat and there was vinegar for the cabbage.

Not I. With latkes I'll eat applesauce as a side. Of course I want sour cream on my latkes. Oh, and black pepper on my applesauce.

Hey Mar! No I don't have a tagine but made it in my Lodge Dutch oven. Came out great.
I came home after a 12 hour day at work today, we were short handed, only to have a brand new Weber grill being delivered by UPS. My husband, who works nights (11pm-7AM) at a local hospital and was asleep upon delivery, had ordered it for me only telling our kids. They all seemed to know about it! Nice surprise after a long day!

Applesauce for latkes.

Agnes, charcoal?  Ga?  Which model?  (Not that I know them, anymore)

I have to give my BGE a good cleaning.  I had a hard time starting it on the 4th.  There are 2 filet mignon in the freezer waiting for the first thaw.

It's a Weber one touch and it has a huge grilling space! My husband measured the kitchen door opening to make sure he could put it together inside and still get it out!

My zucchini and summer squash were nearing the point of having to throw them out, so...

Meant to add some red bell pepper, but totally forgot about it.

Felix,  although that photographs great.... I couldn't eat all that squash.  Maybe not any of it.

Okay, I needed inspiration so I perused the meal threads.

I was inspired by the breakfast bagel posted by Agnes.

Came out good with 2 eggs, bacon, onions and peppers.

Bill- my friend has a neighbor who sells her chickens for 12.00 each( believe it or not-she puts them out in a freezer out on the road-honor system on paying) and they are the best. Big, plump and worth every penny.

Interesting salad, Felix.  What kind of dressing did you use?

Tonight was Bologna sandwich night but I went out to lunch with some friends.  Lunch was a spicy chile relleno plate with beans and rice.
