Dinner this evening was a rare roast beef sandwich on rye with Swiss cheese and horseradish sauce.

But there's a can of rolled anchovy fillets with capers and some Ritz crackers beckoning.

The grill got another night off - lots going on so we did a turkey sandwich with a few chips - but tomorrow night is already on the menu - going to marinate a couple of petit sirloins - bloody mary shrimp cocktails - and a raddichio & marinated artichoke & tomato salad.

I'm starting a 4 day weekend after tomorrow and going to make the most of every minute of it!

Senior meal at Knott's Berry Farm.  $9.85

Fried chicken, salad, biscuits, steamed cabbage, mashed potatoes, rhubarb and apple pie.

Not in that order and gravy was involved.

Italian Sausage - Redneck Italiano Reggiano - Stampede packing company, Kalispell, MT...

I've never seen these...4/1 package...fairly mild...almost too mild...

They have cooking instructions for pan fry, and hot water, but when it comes to open flame or broiler the package says "you're on your own"

Nice graphic on the package of a "good ole boy" in overalls, and a pig, sitting on a log looking at a full moon...

The package was more interesting than the sausage itself...

I don't think I'll buy another of these, but I at least wanted to try them...

I had a monster salad: mixed greens topped with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and pecans, drizzled with raspberry-walnut vinaigrette.

I wish I could take credit for it, but it came from the Meijer deli.

Mar, I wonder who put that thought in your mind.............I bet you don't see the side of Rhubarb in many restaurants now a days.

MH, I remember the days when dinner on friday night was "Caldo Cane e Senape" and I thought Bacon boy was bad..................

Listen PNWCHEF, I love Caldo Cane e Senape for dinner, and for lunch, and I've even been known to enjoy one for breakfast.

Ah, if only I could once again wrap my lips around a few split, grilled Roessler's Yellow Tag dogs topped with mustard, relish, chopped onion and sauerkraut at Jimmies. And maybe a couple of lobster rolls, some fried clams, fries, a dozen clams on the half shell and a pineapple drink.

I used to get change from a five dollar bill for a repast like that.

Dinner in catering FTW! Prime rib, chicken rolled around sage stuffing, cabrese salad, salad bar, smoked salmon on toast points, some kind of feta/fish spread on toasted baguette slices, steamed broccoli, roasted vegetables (red potatoes, carrots, parsnips), and an optional pasta bar (they custom-make you a plate using whatever pasta, vegetables, meats and sauces you'd like). For dessert, chocolate fountains with about a dozen different things to dip in them.

Fun meal tonight.............Ater the nine year old grandaughter's basketball team win over a team which has been undefeated for two years, the memebers of her "Pink Knives Cooking Society"  aare busy preparing dinner as I type.  They have a huge  ham loaf in the oven  (the Musim member is  going to have a cheese omelet), warm potato salad, tossed salad, sausage rolls and cider!  I cannot wait to taste their meal.  Grandson has had 5 pins so far today and has one match to go  so  the girls are trying to think of a special dessert that they can make in a hurry!

The Littlest One rules! And it sounds like a pretty neat dinner to me.

And the tough kid's not doing badly, either. I hope he plays football this year.

His wrestling is the best thing that ever happened to him.  He loves it     He had 6 matches and 6 wins today.  Four of them were pins.  This skinny scrawny kid is a real champ!

I would love the recipe for tthe crab quiche. I am gluten free, so the crustless part sounds good.

Weird. I thought I posted a link. Ah well, here you go.  http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/crustless-crab-quiche

Tonight I made a cheesy chicken and broccoli casserole. Should have had some beets or something like that on the side, but it didn't occur to me until too late.

Re:What's For DINNER ...??? 2012/01/14 21:47:39 (permalink)
The pork chops were those very thin, sandwich looking, boneless slices so I pounded them some more, cut them up to make them look more substantial and did a wine and chicken stock gravy.

I'm finding that I'm loving capers.

Served with potato blintzes which could have used some grilled onions.

Should have opened some applesauce to go with everything but just now thought about it.
