Because you always need a choice......
Prime Ribeye Steak with fresh green beans and White Truffle Oil Tater Tots....

Or a Prime Boneless NY Strip with White Truffle Oil Tater Tots.

Those of you with Scratch 'n Sniff video screens should be able to smell the truffle oil on the tater tots.

I'll have the ribeye, thanks.  Medium rare.

I'll have the strip medium rare, and hold the truffle oil.

You're in luck, both streaks were cooked to my usual favorite, medium rare. MH, don't come over immediately though----I'll have to make a new batch of tater tots without truffle oil!

Ed, you never fail to make my mouth water. I can't decide if love you or hate you for that.

Tonight I made all other people's recipes. Eggplant Lasagna (from Dlife.com), which is getting really close to what I want it to be, but gives me a way better starting point to tweak my own than others in the past. Served with Zucchini Chile-Cheddar Mash (from Eating Well), that really wanted to be drained but didn't say to. And cottage cheese.

First time I made any kind of red sauce using fresh herbs from my garden, and all I can say is I am NEVER making sauce with dried herbs again. EVER!

Don't hate me, felix. After all, we were both thinking Italian tonight.
A small green salad.....

and home made cioppino, with rockfish, Alaskan cod, Jonah crab claws, shrimp in aq San Marzano tomato sauce.
Ciao!

Someday, Ed, you won't know when, but someday you'll answer your door and I'll be standing there, plate in hand.

So today, as it turns out, is International Bacon Day! Believe it or not, I planned this dinner well before I knew that, because I had a bunch of stuff I needed to use up.

Chicken breast stuffed with ricotta and spinach, then wrapped in bacon and baked. Green beans with bacon, onion, cider vinegar, and sugar. Creamy grape salad (red, green, black seedless grapes with a cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla dressing). I am ridiculously pleased with everything... and also so stuffed my laptop is tilted funny.

Lee - Thank you!

Ann - I'm glad you liked it! I could happily eat it every day of my life, I think.

Ed - Thank you! It was amazing.

Tonight I did salmon with cucumbers and dill, a simple tomato-cucumber salad, and pasta salad from a box. Nothin' fancy, just good food.

I still want to eat at your house, Ed.

Tonight's dinner: Marinated pork chops (soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic - left for about 18 hours), tomato basil and feta salad, and some kind of frozen vegetable blend.

Time to start cooking.  Well more like throwing stuff together in a pot.

A friend from Jamaica gave me some jerk chicken he made so after eating it last night I decided to turn it in to something different for tonight's dinner.

So I made a sort of blurry posole, chicken stew with golden hominy, diced Hatch Chilies, chicken broth and spices.  I forgot the can of corn.

Not bad.

You can have the pork chop but not on that plate......has to be on one of those upside-down plates!
