Hope Lisa is feeling better.

We'll have been soup tonight.  At least I will.  If I remember, I'll add a picture.

Tonight racks of LAMB from Lava Lake Lamb, fried sliced new potatoes, starting out with a cup of our spicy Italian sausage noodle soup. Yeah, this will work for me!

On the way to work this morning I heard a random comment on the radio that the local Kroger carries Skyline Chili.  I went directly to the nearest one and bought two cans.  "Three way" for me tonight!

(But not for my in-house food cop, Mrs. Metro; she read the label and was horrified by the sodium content.  I won't let her poop this party - I told her that maybe all that sodium will mean I won't have to get up during the night!).

I made chicken enchiladas in casserole form. The recipe makes about a million, so half of them are in the freezer to be made later when I don't feel like cooking.

No, didn't make the latkes.  My cousins didn't, either.  They had the Latke Lady come to their house and make them with their ingredients.  This time besides the regular potato latkes there were nasty zucchini mint latkes.  The others seemed to like them, but I sure didn't.

If I were to send you a recipe it would be for hand grated (not like has browns) potatoes, onions, salt, egg, pepper and matzo meal.  Grated to a mush, not strands.

No, No, No!  I make the real thing from scratch.

We're out of B&M Baked Beans so after slicing and browning up the Hebrew National Hot Dogs, I opened a Can of Bush Baked Beans.  Not bad.

Hanger steaks with red wine mushroom sauce.
Seared sea scallops.
Creamy risotto with Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Sauteed Brussels sprouts with maple-balsamic vinaigrette.

JRPfeff - that's my kind of a dinner! Tonight we're winding down from a month of deer season ending today - all the Chrismas shopping was finished today and after a week of tropical rainforest weather a cold front's finally coming through and a high of 44 tomorrow will feel like winter for us.

2 NY strips on the grill right now - Baked Potatoes in the oven and a small romaine salad with avocado and tomatoes.  And of course a bottle of Cabernet.

Last night's dinner was a scrounge job for me.  I just kind of poked around the cupboards and fridge and had a little of this and a little of that...in the end I think it amounted to some farmer's cheese, black olives, chips and onion dip, salami, and roast beef.

Tonight I did ocean perch with a mayonnaise-Cajun-dill sauce, with Harvard beets and green beans with almonds on the side.

Apparently, I am now incapable of taking a picture of my meals...stupid surgery and then being sick has thrown off my whole kitchen kismet. Gotta work on that.

Tonight it was beans and greens with sausage. That's broccoli rabe sauteed in olive oil with garlic, red pepper flakes and cannellini beans, plus grilled hot Italian sausage.

We have a couple of Tito's in San Diego but they are both so far away it's not worth the time especially since I have at least 5 or 6 fast food Mexican places within 5 miles or less of us one being almost across the street.
There is a Chipoltles down the road from us!  My Son raves about it but ever since a dozen people or more got sick there last year I dont think I'll be trying it!

Your Tito's aren't the same as Tito's Tacos.  There was once two locations, the second on the corner of Beach and Ball in Anaheim or near Anaheim.  Now it's called something else with the same menu.

If you're even up this way visiting your son come up to Culver City and give Tito's a try.

I can't stand Chipotles.  I've now given it three tries and it didn't change my opinion.  However it is always packed... sort of like Tito's.

To me...a Taco is a Taco no matter who has them!
The very best Tacos can be found in TJ on the streets where they are loaded with Cilantro (yeah.......I know......you hate Cilantro) and Guacamole.
Now Burritos on the other hand are a beast of a different nature...........Some are really really good and some are AWESOME!   Personally my favorites are Chorizo and egg with melted cheese and Fish Burritos!  Oh yeah!

One of my favorite tacos in Tijuana is on Avenida Revolucion.  It's at the top of the stairway where the stairs go down to what seems to be hundreds of underground shops.  No cilantro to be found on them although they do serve them with a green onion, radish slices and a marinated carrot.  When I started driving down there they were 15ยข. They're probably a dollar or more now.

My other favorite was on Benito Juarez near the outdoor vendors.  I loved them until I found out I was eating brain tacos.  Never again!

I haven't been since we drove down to San Diego and had dinner with you so it's been along time.

Unfortunately my safety prevents  me from ever going again.  You can get killed down there.

Yeah.......TJ isnt the same anymore.
We used to go at least once a month but that was YEARS ago!
Now the lines to get in and out are do damn long it's not even worth going there and the once to had bargains are non-existant!
Leather coats were plentiful and cheap but now a good sales at Wilsons is just as good if not better!
Nope.......my days of visiting TJ are long gone!

Created a chicken stir-fry tonight. It was going to be fried rice, but things went horribly awry at my house this afternoon and I was lucky to get this accomplished.

I would have loved some Popeye's chicken tonight - but with all the getting ready for the holiday stuff going on we ended up with tuna sandwiches and chips.

I do!  But only one - we're too picky about the tuna - 2 small cans of solid white albacore in water and a couple of tablespoons each of finely chopped red onion, celery and dill pickle - and the egg, finely chopped also.  Only enough mayo - maybe 2 tbsp - to bind it and a sprinkle of black pepper and celery seed.  On whole wheat bread with Lay's Ruffles chips.

I had leftovers, since the trash goes out tonight. Bit of roast beef, few potatoes, couple of carrots, and some gravy mixed together in a bowl. Next to it a biscuit with butter and honey.

Chicken, broccoli and fusilli in a light garlic, fresh tomato, and Parmigiano Reggiano cream sauce.

How come you always get the good French stuff when I have only my home made sliders and thin sliced twice fried potatoes?
I Know because you have the wonderful Leechef in house

Ann, did you add anything to the sauerkraut?  It's nearing that time of year that I cook some sort of pork and sauerkraut... usually with an ale.

Mar, Mom would brown the ribs in a bit of water, salt and pepper.....She would put the sauerkraut in a 13by nine.......add the ribs, water and all, cover and bake at 350 for 3 hours. The sauerkraut took on the most fantastic flavor from the ribs.....

By the way, Bob is out of town, so I am having shrimp in garlic wine sauce, and a good french bread to soak up the juices....
