CC, load them up with the salsa.  If you like a little spice, ask for the green salsa which is chopped up jalapenos.  The guacamole needs a recipe so I can copy it.  Can you figure out recipes from the finished dish?

That looks delicious!

I'll order extra guacamole and bring it back to the "lab" so I have something fun to do. People LOVE to talk to me (outside of Roadfood of course) so Ill ask probing guacamole questions...and see what happens.

I have tried and nothing comes close to Tito's guacamole.

Order the medium size all for yourself!  I also put it on the tostadas and tacos but they aren't pretty that way.

That's why I'm the way I am!

Now I want some.

Going for a followup at the doctor's tomorrow.  I may have to stop there on the way home.

Wasn't my plan... plan was to stop around the corner at Johnny's Pastrami for my next report.

Good luck at the Dr.

I should be back in Los Angeles next Saturday. If you're not busy...maybe we can drive each other crazy...over guacamole.

No oatmeal in the house.  Bah!

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and it left a lot to be desired.  Tasted like noodles with a water sauce.  No flavor at all.

It's time for meat!  Tomorrow might be tri-tip if I remember to defrost it.

Tonight we polished off leftovers: meatloaf, green beans and lima beans. I'm also gonna post about tomorrow, since my day is way full and I know what I'm doing. Dinner will be crock pot salsa chicken with black beans and cream cheese, served over brown rice.

And then there's dessert. I'm throwing myself a birthday party a touch early, and this is the cake. We are all gonna die.

Thanks! It's gonna be great. I have this reputation for making totally over-the-top cakes for my birthday parties. Last year I did a giant peanut butter cup.

Fresh 'n Easy marked down a package of 2 filet Mignons to $7.89.  I had to buy them.

Seared in the cast iron skillet and finished in the oven.

Topped with a Paisano shallot reduction. (Don't laugh!)

Served with sliced potatoes fried in duck fat and embarrassed by canned green beans.

That looks great Mar! I would love to know what Paisano shallot reduction is! Last evening I made pan fried thin cut pork chops with pan gravy, rice and peas. I brined the pork chops in an effort to make sure they were not dry. First time I made pork chops this way. Got rave reviews from my family!

Agnes, Paisano is cheap red table wine, sold in pints, quarts and gallons.  It was just a pan sauce with a fancy name.

Tonight's dinner is long gone.  I ate an entire capicola sub. It was huge and I'm stuffed.

I still need to defrost the tri-tip.  I looked at my Big Green Egg and I need to clean it.  I might not do the defrosting for awhile.

My sister took me out for dinner at a new (to me) place. Ohmygod, but I will be going there a LOT! We had their version of nachos, which is described as Cajun Kettle Chips layered with Gorgonzola, Provolone, and Cheddar Cheese. Topped with Pico de Gallo. Drizzled with Spicy Sour Cream and served with a side of Vindaloo Ranchero dipping sauce.

She had their fish tacos (Three Old Bay dusted Pollock Tacos, Pickled Red & White Cabbage, Avocado Aioli and fresh chopped Cilantro.). I had their Brewpub Cuban (Hand-pulled Beer Braised Pork, Beer Brined Bacon, Pickled Onions, a Provolone Cheese Blend & Garlic Aioli served on Locally Sourced Flat Iron Sourdough.).

And then there is their beer menu, which is easily 5x larger than their food menu. They have 80 beers on tap, the vast majority of them local or regional microbrews. I chose Saugatuck Oval Beach Blonde Ale, which may be my new favourite. Next time I go I'm going to have to get one of their sampler platters (they have twelve different ones, or you can create your own) with between three and six four-ounce glasses of beer each.

Finally (as seen in another thread) bit the bullet and tried Taylor's Pork Roll.

That's a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich.

I won't be making another unless Sharon liked hers.  She ate it and didn't comment so it's not outstanding... or horrible.

I had a late brunch at Lula's in Santa Monica.

Blue corn pancakes, bacon and eggs.

Followed a bit later with red flannel cake because we were out for my cousin's birthday celebration.

Didn't feel like fussing it the kitchen.  Didn't feel like anything after this sad day but I needed to eat so I made tuna sandwiches...

White Albacore in Water
Mayonnaise  (Best Foods)
Diced Wickle's Pickles
Minced onion
Spash of pepper sauce
A good grinding of Black Pepper

All on white bread.

Could hardly get 2 sandwiches from that small can of tuna.

Mar, I hear you on the tuna, the boogers made the cans smaller and now we often open two because of it.  But the worse thing is there were many many good old recipes based on the one can being the standard size.  Now those all have to be adjusted too...although sometimes that's not always bad.

For example, here is one that goes back to the fifties or before, and we still eat today -- tuna and eggs on toast.  It was one can tuna, one can cream of celery soup, three or four hard cooked eggs chopped up, s&p to taste.  Heat it up and serve on toast.  Simple and good comfort food.  (Canned peas to accompany, always.  Right next to the toast for me, and on top for my wife.)

But we have had to add another can now, and actually find we like that better.  Now we think, after all these years, that the tuna in the recipe was skimpy, and we like having more.

But still, all those old recipes....

It's cold and rainy and I wanted comfort food. So...bacon and bleu cheese stuffed chicken breasts. And then because there's an awful lot of fat in there, I paired it with peas and cottage cheese.

We usually add hard boiled egg but my first sentence said I didn't feel like fussing in the kitchen.

Just got back from Mom's and stopped at Panda Express to pick up dinner.

Everything tastes the same so it doesn't matter what I chose.

The Wifes youngest Son is staying with us for awhile and at 6' 2" and about 185 or so he eats like a HORSE!
He ate a whole pizza by himself.
Last night I made Sloppy Joes and they weren't small.............  he finished two of them plus a plate of fries before I had even finished eating 1/2 of one of mine!
